That belly fat isn't just a cosmetic issue.
It's a hormone hijacker.

Here's the science: Belly fat (visceral fat) contains an enzyme called aromatase that converts your testosterone into estrogen.

The good news?

You can fight back;
Diet, exercise, stress management, and knowing your numbers can help you keep your testosterone where it belongs, high.

This Men's Health Month, check your hormones.
Check your health.

Let's talk about something many women experience, yet almost no one talks about openly.

Painful, heavy, or irregular periods are often a signal and not a personality trait.

Fibroids, PMOS, endometriosis, thyroid disorders and even clotting issues.

These conditions don't just cause "bad periods, they affect fertility, energy, mental health, and long-term well-being.

If your period regularly:

Keeps you home from work or school

Requires you to change protection every hour

Comes with pain that painkillers can't touch

Lasts longer than 7 days or comes too close together

That is not normal.

Ask for a pelvic ultrasound, request a hormone panel, find out what your body is actually saying.

Your period should not be a monthly crisis.

Dear woman, your health matters at all times.

Your body has been sending you whispers:
That fatigue, those heavy periods, that bloating that never seems to go away.

It's time to listen.

You wake up early to feed everyone else.
You rush to work, rush back home, rush through life.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. You cannot mother, lead, love, or build when you're running on empty.

This Women's Health Awareness Month, we invite you to do one thing for yourself, just one.

Schedule a health check.
Not because something is wrong.
But because you deserve to know.

Share this to that woman that needs to hear this.

These 5 screenings are non-negotiable after 20.

Not because something is wrong.

But because knowing is always better than guessing.

1. Pelvic & Abdominal Ultrasound:

Fibroids don't wait until you're 40, they can start growing in your 20s. Fibroid affects 7 out of 10 women in Nigeria.

Ovarian cysts are also common and often silent.

This screening helps detect:
• Uterine fibroids (which can affect fertility and cause heavy bleeding)
• Ovarian cyst
• Endometriosis
The earlier you know, the more options you have.

2. Breast Imaging (Ultrasound + Mammogram)

Breast cancer is the #1 cancer affecting Nigerian women. It doesn't always come with a lump.

For women in their 20s and 30s, breast ultrasound is the go-to, it's excellent for dense breast tissue

For women 40+, a mammogram is essential.

When breast cancer is caught early, the survival rate is over 90%.
When caught late? The story changes.

3. Cervical Cancer Screening (Pap Smear + HPV Test)

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in Nigerian women.
But it is preventable.

The Pap smear detects precancerous changes years before cancer develops.
The HPV test checks for the virus that causes most cervical cancers.

Cervical cancer doesn't hurt until it's advanced, by the time you feel pain, it's advanced. A 10-minute test could save your life.

4. Thyroid Function Test + Thyroid Ultrasound

Thyroid disorders are 10 times more common in women than men.

And here's the thing thyroid nodules are common in young women, most are benign but some need monitoring, you won't know without an ultrasound.

The TFT test is a blood test that measures your thyroid hormones (T3, T4, TSH).

Your thyroid controls your metabolism, energy levels, mood, menstrual cycle and fertility
If you always feel tired, gaining weight without explanation, your thyroid might be crying for help.

5. Comprehensive Blood Panel

A comprehensive blood test tells the following:

• Full Blood Count
• Blood Sugar
• Lipid Profile
• Iron Studies
• Kidney & Liver Function

Many of these conditions have no symptoms until they've done damage, these 5 screenings are essential for every woman within or above 20.
