KWARA-HMB MANAGEMENT ATTENDS PEBEC SUBNATIONAL TOWNHALL ON EASE OF DOING BUSINESS

The management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB) participated in the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Subnational Townhall Meeting on Ease of Doing Business, organized by the Kwara State Ministry of Finance in Ilorin.

The townhall brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss ongoing reforms aimed at improving the business environment, attracting investments, enhancing public service delivery, and promoting sustainable economic growth in Kwara State.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of KW-HMB, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, highlighted the critical role of healthcare in supporting economic development and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the State Government’s reform agenda.

“KW-HMB is contributing to the ease-of-doing-business agenda by improving efficiency in healthcare service delivery, embracing digital solutions, fostering strategic partnerships, and supporting the Buy Kwara initiative. By making healthcare services more accessible, transparent, and responsive, we are creating an environment that supports both economic growth and improved health outcomes for our people.”

The management commended His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his visionary leadership and commitment to reforms that have strengthened governance, improved public service delivery, enhanced infrastructure, and positioned Kwara State as an attractive destination for investment and business growth.

The Board also applauded the Kwara State Ministry of Finance and PEBEC for facilitating stakeholder engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen healthcare delivery, encourage innovation, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Kwara State.

Kwara-HMB Assess Progress of National Diagnostic Centre, Set to Transform Diagnostic Services in Kwara

The ultra-modern National Diagnostic Centre facilitated by His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, in partnership with the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), and currently under construction, was today visited by the management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB).

Upon completion, the Centre is expected to offer a wide range of cutting-edge diagnostic services, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) Scan, Digital X-ray, Tuberculosis (TB) screening and diagnostic services, Ultrasound, Mammography, Laboratory Diagnostics, and other specialized imaging and diagnostic procedures. These services will improve access to timely and accurate diagnoses, thereby enhancing patient outcomes and supporting healthcare professionals in making informed clinical decisions.

During the visit, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, the Executive Secretary, commended His Excellency for his commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure through strategic partnerships that will improve access to quality diagnostic services for the people of Kwara State. He noted that the National Diagnostic Centre will significantly enhance the state’s capacity for early disease detection, accurate diagnosis, and timely medical intervention.

The Executive Secretary also expressed appreciation to the NSIA for its collaboration and investment in the project, emphasizing that the facility will complement existing healthcare services across the state and reduce the need for patients to seek advanced diagnostic investigations outside Kwara State.

Members of the HMB management team inspected various sections of the facility and received updates from the project team on the current status of construction, equipment installation plans, and timelines for completion.

The National Diagnostic Centre is expected to serve as a referral hub for Kwara State and neighboring states, providing world-class diagnostic services, strengthening healthcare delivery, supporting medical professionals with advanced diagnostic capabilities, and contributing significantly to improved health outcomes.

The Hospitals Management Board reaffirmed the commitment of this administration to supporting all initiatives aimed at advancing healthcare service delivery and ensuring that residents have access to efficient, affordable, and quality healthcare services. The Board also expressed confidence that the project will further consolidate Kwara State’s position as a leading destination for quality healthcare services in Nigeria.

Kwara-HMB Conducts Routine Monitoring and Supervision Visit to Cottage Hospital Ogidi

The management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, went on its routine monitoring and supervision visit to Cottage Hospital Ogidi as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare service delivery across the state.

During the visit, all major departments of the hospital were inspected, including the laboratory, wards, maternity unit, medical records department, nurses’ station, immunization unit, and pharmacy.

Members of staff were extensively coached and counseled on key areas such as quality patient care, customer service, punctuality, reduction of absenteeism, proper documentation, and effective record keeping to further enhance efficiency and professionalism within the facility.

The team also inspected sections of the hospital affected by roof leakages following recent rainfall, and arrangements are already being put in place to carry out the necessary repairs to improve the hospital environment and ensure patient safety.

In addition, the management of the Ogidi Hospital presented requests for some essential equipment, which the Board has noted and will equally attend to in line with its commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and service delivery across the state.

Kwara State Government Approves 30% Peculiar Allowance for Agencies, Parastatals, Media Houses

The Kwara State Government has approved the payment of a 30% Peculiar Allowance for workers in Agencies, Parastatals, and Media Houses who had yet to benefit from the allowance earlier approved for their counterparts in the mainstream civil service.

The Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Mercy Sh*ttu, disclosed this in a statement issued today by the Press Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Okanlawon Solomon.

According to the statement, the approval is part of the administration’s continued commitment to workers’ welfare, equity, and inclusiveness across the state public service.

Dr. Sh*ttu explained that the implementation of the allowance will take effect from June 1, 2026, noting that the gesture further demonstrates His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to improving the wellbeing and morale of workers in the state.

The Acting Head of Service commended the His Excellency for his consistent support for the workforce and for sustaining policies that promote fairness and productivity within the civil service.

She urged workers in the affected establishments to remain committed, diligent, and supportive of government policies and programmes aimed at advancing the state.

Meanwhile, the statement revealed that salaries for the month of May had been paid ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration to enable workers celebrate the festive season comfortably with their families.

The Acting Head of Service felicitated workers and the Muslim faithful across the state on the occasion of the Sallah celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kwara State.

Kwara-HMB Inspects Ongoing Borehole Drilling and Infrastructure Upgrades at Cottage Hospital Adewole

The management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board paid an on-site inspection visit to the ongoing borehole drilling project at Cottage Hospital Adewole as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure, improve water supply, and enhance healthcare service delivery at the facility. The borehole project is expected to provide a more reliable and sustainable water source for the hospital, thereby supporting clinical services, sanitation, and overall patient care.

During the visit, the team led by Dr. Abdulraheem Malik,the Executive Secretary also conducted a comprehensive inspection of the renovation and upgrade works carried out within the hospital premises. The inspection focused on ensuring that the improvements align with the Board’s commitment to creating a more functional, conducive, and patient-friendly healthcare environment.

As part of the facility reorganization, staff offices and hospital departments were reassigned to improve workflow efficiency, enhance coordination among healthcare personnel, and ensure more effective utilization of available spaces within the facility.

In addition, patient sitting arrangements were reviewed and upgraded to provide greater comfort for patients and their relatives while accessing healthcare services. Service protocols and operational procedures were also assessed and strengthened to promote professionalism, reduce waiting time, and improve overall patient experience at the hospital.

The visit further reaffirmed the commitment of the Board to continuous monitoring, infrastructure development, and quality improvement across healthcare facilities in the state in line with the administration’s vision of delivering accessible, efficient, and people-centered healthcare services.

The management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board and the Kwara State Essential Drugs Programme recently paid a strategic working visit to the ultra-modern manufacturing facility of Fidson Healthcare Plc in Ota, Ogun State, and its corporate head office in Lagos State, as part of ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening human capital development and improving the drug supply chain across healthcare facilities in Kwara State.

The delegation was led by the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, alongside the management team of the Board and the Kwara State Essential Drugs Programme.

They were received by the management team of Fidson Healthcare Plc led by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Pharm. Biola Adebayo. During the visit, the delegation toured the company’s state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and warehousing systems, gaining firsthand insight into Fidson’s advanced production processes, quality assurance standards, and efficient pharmaceutical distribution operations.

Following the factory tour, both parties held a high-level engagement focused on developing strategic areas of collaboration in healthcare workforce development and pharmaceutical supply chain efficiency within Kwara State.

Speaking during the engagement, Pharm. Biola Adebayo reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the continuous training and professional development of healthcare workers in Kwara State. He disclosed that Fidson Healthcare Plc would commit resources towards the advanced training and capacity building of healthcare personnel across the state, particularly in the areas of empathy in patient care, conflict resolution, and customer service, with the objective of improving patient experience and strengthening healthcare delivery standards.

The Management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board and the Kwara State Essential Drugs Programme, both led by the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, at the instance of pharmaceutical giant, FIDSON Healthcare Plc, are scheduled to pay a working visit to the company’s ultra-modern manufacturing facility in Ogun State.

The visit is aimed at strengthening the existing partnership between both organizations through high-level discussions on expanding direct factory-to-board drug supplies to improve access to high-quality pharmaceutical products and further enhance affordability for patients across Kwara State.

The visit also reflects over four years of excellent working relationship between the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, Kwara State Essential Drugs Programme and FIDSON Healthcare Plc. The partnership has seen FIDSON Healthcare Plc sponsor the upgrade of the Pharmacy Departments at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) and the Children’s Specialist Hospital, Center Igboro, Ilorin, while also supporting the ongoing renovation of the Essential Drugs Programme (EDP) facility.

As part of the engagement, the Executive Secretary will advocate for FIDSON Healthcare Plc to consider establishing an annex of its manufacturing facility in Kwara State, considering the state’s favorable business environment and investor-friendly policies under the current administration. The proposed investment is expected to boost commercial activities and create more employment opportunities for Kwarans.

Speaking ahead of the visit, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik stated:
