SLEEP WEEK BEGINS — AND WHAT ISLAM SAYS WILL SURPRISE YOU!
Wellness Tip — Day 8 | AT-Taaj Natural Healthcare
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh!
The Prophet ﷺ had a sleep routine. He slept early. He woke up for Tahajjud. He napped (Qailulah) in the afternoon. This was intentional, and science is only now catching up.
Why sleep matters more than you think:
■ During sleep, your brain flushes out toxic waste linked to Alzheimer's disease
■ Your immune system repairs and rebuilds itself entirely at night. Poor sleep means poor immunity
■ Sleep deprivation increases anxiety and depression by up to 400%
■ Poor sleep disrupts hunger hormones directly, contributing to weight gain
Consistently poor sleep is linked to hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
Nigeria's silent sleep crisis:
→ Studies show Nigerians average just 5.5 hours of sleep per night
→ The recommended amount for adults is 7–9 hours
→ The top causes: generator noise, financial stress, late-night phone use, heat, and shift work
The Prophet's ﷺ Sunnah Sleep Guidance:
● Sleep early — after Isha, not at 2am
● Sleep on your RIGHT side — now confirmed by science to benefit digestion and the heart
● Recite Ayatul Kursi + the last two ayahs of Surah Al-Baqarah before sleeping
● Make wudu before bed
● Say your sleep du'a: "Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya"
(O Allah, in Your name I die and I live).
The Sunnah is not just spiritually perfect. It is scientifically perfect.
Try the Sunnah sleep routine tonight and notice the difference it makes to how you wake up tomorrow morning.
Is poor sleep affecting your health, mood, or daily life? You do not have to keep waking up exhausted.
