Last week, CPCI had the opportunity to be part of the SIOP Africa Conference, a gathering of leading voices in childhood cancer care across the continent.
As part of this, we presented our work on strengthening early childhood cancer detection through community and youth-led engagement in Nigeria.
This work is rooted in a simple but urgent reality: many children are not diagnosed late because treatment does not exist, but because early signs are not recognized and referral pathways are not activated in time.
Through our initiatives, including the Joseph Hope Project, we continue to focus on improving awareness, strengthening early recognition, and supporting pathways that connect children to care earlier.
Being part of SIOP Africa also provided an important opportunity to engage in broader conversations around health system readiness, reinforcing the need to connect community-level efforts with stronger clinical and system responses.
We are encouraged by the conversations, the shared commitment, and the growing recognition that early detection must remain a priority in improving childhood cancer outcomes.
The work continues.
