Many couples ignore this until pregnancy complications happen.
Your blood group and genotype can affect:
Pregnancy safety
The baby’s health
Risk of miscarriage in some cases
Conditions like severe newborn jaundice or sickle cell disease
For example:
If both partners have AS genotype, there is a chance of having a child with sickle cell disease (SS).
If a mother is Rh-negative and the baby is Rh-positive, complications can happen in future pregnancies if not properly managed.
This is why couples should do:
✔ Blood group test
✔ Genotype test
✔ HIV/Hepatitis screening
✔ Medical counseling before marriage or pregnancy
