YOUR EYES CAN BE DAMAGED BY THE SUN… EVEN WHEN YOU FEEL COMPLETELY FINE.

I know some might find this statement surprising...but it's true!

The crazy part is, you won't even notice a thing

You can spend years outdoors without proper eye protection and feel perfectly fine.

Unknown to you that the repeated UV(ultraviolet)exposure contributes to long-term eye problems.

One of them being..
CATARACTS

A cataract happens when the natural lens inside your eye gets cloudy.

It can gradually cause:
- Blurry or cloudy vision
- Increased sensitivity to light
- Difficulty seeing at night
- Halos around lights
- Faded or yellowish colours
- Frequent changes in your glasses prescription(if you wear one)

And yes, long-term sunlight(or uv rays)exposure is one of the factors associated with cataract development.

But cataracts aren't your only concern.
Repeated sunlight exposure can also contribute to problems such as

photokeratitis—a painful UV injury to the surface of the eye

and pterygium, an abnormal growth on the eye's surface.

The scary part?
Your eyes don't have to hurt before you start taking UV exposure seriously.
The damage can accumulate gradually.

So the next time you're outside under that bright sun, don't just think:
"It's hot today."

Think:
"What am I doing to protect my eyes?"

And you can do that simply by wearing a sunglass.

Yes! Don't treat sunglasses as nothing more than a fashion accessory.

UV-protective sunglasses can play an important role in reducing your eyes' exposure to UV radiation.

Your eyes deserve protection too

How often do you wear sunglasses specifically to protect your eyes...Not just because they look good?

They are:

There is no single "best" frame material.
Each one is designed for different people, lifestyles, and budgets.

You just pick the one that aligns with your needs.

Let's elaborate on these frames.

Nothing hurts more than purchasing an expensive frame…only for it to break after a couple of days.

Trust me…I've been there!

It might surprise you to know that the things that determine how long a frame lasts are usually not hidden.

Your attention as the buyer is just elsewhere

Asides from achieving good eyesight, the next that makes most of you to buy glasses is this question:
"Does it look good on me?"

And that's important.

But another thing you should have in mind is the same that separates a frame that lasts 6 months from one that serves you for years…

“Quality”

Quality is what lies beneath the style.

Not every frame that looks expensive is actually high quality.

In this post, I’ll be breaking down the anatomy of a quality frame for y'all so you can acquire one for yourselves

This is the final piece of this series...

And the whole essence of this series is to enlighten you.. my glasses folk(and anyone that cares to read this) on simple tips to maximize your glasses in ways that not only improve your sight, but your looks aswell.

Tonight, we'll be talking about oblong(or long) face shape.

And most people with this face shape make a very major mistake...

They're unaware of their face shape...

So they choose frames that make their face look longer instead of more balanced.

Some characteristics of an oblong face shape are:

🔹 A face that's noticeably longer than it is wide

🔹 Straight cheek lines

🔹 A forehead, cheekbones, and jawline that are similar in width

🔹 A gently rounded or slightly squared chin

In order to achieve balance, try out these frames:

✅ Oversized Frames

✅ Square Frames

✅ Round Frames

✅ Wayfarer Frames

✅ Frames with Taller Lenses

These styles add visual wideness… breaking up the length of the face, and create a more proportionate appearance.

Frames to be careful with:

❌ Small Frames

❌ Narrow Rectangular Frames

❌ Tiny Rimless Frames

These styles can make your face appear even longer and narrower, throwing off your facial balance.

If your face naturally has more length, your frames should introduce width—not more length.

That's the difference between glasses that simply fit...
..and glasses that truly flatter your face.

If you've judiciously followed this series to this point…Omo, you sef try.

But...I’d like to know something 👇

A diamond face shape is the least common among the face shapes.

It is characterized by:
🔹 High, prominent cheekbones
🔹 A narrow forehead
🔹 A narrow jawline
🔹 A pointed chin

The widest part of the face is the cheekbones
And instead of hiding them, you'd want to create a balance, blending the forehead and jaw

That's why these frame styles work best:
✅ Oval Frames
✅ Cat-Eye Frames
✅ Browline Frames
✅ Rimless Frames
✅ Round Frames

These styles add visual wideness to the forehead, soften angular features, and complement your naturally pronounced cheekbones.
Frames to be careful with:
❌ Narrow Frames
❌ Small Frames
❌ Boxy Frames That Sit Too High

These can make your cheekbones appear even wider while making your forehead and jawline look narrower.

We'll be rounding up this series tomorrow. The next face shape is Oblong/long face shape

Stay tuned

One of the prominent characteristic of people with this face shape is a broad forehead.

Many of you with this face shape tend to feel insecure about it…and feel you need to hide it

You don't!

You just need the righg frames that create better balance.

Here are the major characteristics of a heart shaped face:
🔹 A wider forehead
🔹 High cheekbones
🔹 A narrow jawline
🔹 A pointed or tapered chin

In order to bring balance between the upper and lower parts of your face, these are the frames you should consider:
✅ Oval Frames
✅ Round Frames
✅ Aviator Frames
✅ Rimless Frames
✅ Thin Metal Frames

These frames soften the upper part of the face and help create a more blended look.

On the other hand...
⚠️ Heavy Top Frames
⚠️ Thick Browline Frames
⚠️ Very Wide Cat-Eye Frames..can draw even more attention to the forehead.

Which isn't a bad thing.

But the idea is to provide balance, and direct the attention to your eyes

If your face shape isn't oval…then this might make you a little jealous…

For those with an oval face, you can actually look great in almost any frame style!

That's because an oval face is naturally well-balanced.

It is usually characterized by:
🔹 A forehead slightly wider than the jaw
🔹 Gently rounded jawline
🔹 High cheekbones
🔹 Face length slightly longer than its width
🔹 Balanced facial proportions

With these facial features, most frames will maintain that balance and at the same time…expressing your personal style.

The best frames for oval faces are:
✅ Rectangular Frames
✅ Square Frames
✅ Round Frames
✅ Cat-Eye Frames
✅ Aviator Frames
✅ Browline Frames

With an oval face, you have the freedom to experiment with different styles and come up with your own desired look.

But that doesn't mean every frame is a good choice.

avoid:
⚠️ Frames that are much wider than your face
⚠️ Extremely oversized frames that overwhelm your features
⚠️ Very small frames that make your face appear longer

The right frame should complement your natural features…not overpower them

The next facial shape we'll be looking at is the square shaped face.

And in my opinion, a strong jawline is one of the most attractive facial features you can have.

But too much of everything is bad.

And that's why if you belong to this category of face shape, avoid frames with angles. they make your face look too boxy(abi box-ish) and harsh.

A square face is usually characterized by:
🔹 A broad forehead
🔹 Strong jawline
🔹 Defined cheekbones
🔹 Similar face width and length
🔹 Noticeable angles around the face

Don't get me wrong...

The goal isn't to hide those strong features.

It is to maintain balance.

That's why your go to frames should be:
✅ Round Frames
✅ Oval Frames
✅ Rimless Frames
✅ Thin Metal Frames
✅ Softly Curved Frames

These frame styles give curves that soften your sharp facial angles

On the other hand...Avoid:
⚠️ Very Boxy Frames
⚠️ Sharp Square Frames
⚠️ Thick Angular Frames

Some of the most iconic and confident-looking people have square faces because strong facial structure naturally commands attention.

Now adding more structure to an already structured face...well it makes it look too rigid and exaggerated.

A little contrast goes a long way.
