IS SCAN REALLY NECESSARY πŸ€”

Abeg I no get that kin money πŸ˜’
Oya, come let me give you a small gist...

A pregnant woman who gave birth to her two previous children without going for a scan was rushed into the office, with a history of severe abdominal pain at 5 months (gestational age).

On ultrasound, we discovered that the fetus (baby) has a disorder called ANECHEPHALY (no skull).
After explaining what we saw to her, she refused to go back to the hospital with the belief that we don't know what we are talking about..(u know that feeling of GOD FORBID. IT'S NOT MY PORTION... like sa anybody go pray for that portion)..

Long story cut short.... she carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth to the baby (without a skull).. On her next appointment after the delivery, she said, "My enemies changed my baby."..meanwhile, we saw it earlier at 5 months..
To Be Continued......

The importance of scan can not be over emphasized. The earlier u go for scan, the better.
Your baby can't speak from the womb, but thanks to technology, we can know exactly how ur baby is doing..

Your health is all you've got, guide and care for it while you still can..

OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION

One bad thing about over the counter treatment is that you treat based on symptoms and not the actual illness.

50 health disorders can present with same symptoms.
Taking medication based on symptoms could be u causing harm to other organs in ur body..

Before you start managing ulcer medically, make sure you have done the H-pylori test to confirm that you have ulcer.. Same with othe health issues u claim to have without confirmation...

Don't damage your kidney out of self medication...

The Hospital is not far from you....

Most patients are always in a hurry to leave the hospital after delivery, after which they return to blame the Midwife for one complication or another..

Ideally, a woman should be monitored in the hospital/maternity for at least 12hrs after delivery, given the first Post Partum bath πŸ› and baby bath πŸ› after which they can be discharged if stable....but no u wan go do village meeting..

A Midwife does everything in her job description to save you from PPH (Post Partum Hemorrhage)..
It's your duty to care for urself once you've been discharged..

FIRST AID FOR EPISTAXIS

Epistaxis is the medical term for a nosebleed.
It occurs when the small, delicate blood vessels within the lining of the nasal cavity rupture.

There are many factors that can cause epistaxis. Let's group them into three:

1. Local factors
Dry Air
Trauma
Foreign Bodies
Chemical Irritants

2. Systematic and Medical Factors
Hypertension
Blood Disorder
Anticoagulant Medications
Upper respiratory infections

3. Structural Abnormalities
Deviated Septum
Nasal Polyps

I believe you now have the basic knowledge on what epistaxis is.
Let's dive into the first aid measures.....
