*Hysterosalpingography (HSG): A Diagnostic Test for Infertility*

*What is HSG?*
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a medical imaging test used to evaluate the uterus and fallopian tubes in women. It helps diagnose infertility, blockages, or abnormalities in the reproductive tract.

*Why is HSG Done?*
HSG is typically performed to:

- Investigate infertility or recurrent miscarriages
- Check for blockages or damage to the fallopian tubes
- Evaluate the shape and size of the uterus
- Diagnose conditions like uterine polyps, fibroids, or adhesions
- Assess the success of tubal ligation or reversal

*How is HSG Performed?*
The test is usually done in a radiology department or clinic.

1. *Preparation*: You'll be asked to undress from the waist down and wear a gown.
2. *Insertion of Contrast Dye*: A speculum is inserted, and a catheter is placed through the cervix into the uterus. A contrast dye is injected, filling the uterus and fallopian tubes.
3. *X-ray Imaging*: X-ray images are taken as the dye flows through the reproductive tract.

*What to Expect*
- Mild cramping or discomfort during the procedure
- Slight spotting or bleeding afterwards
- Possible shoulder pain if dye enters the abdominal cavity

*Risks and Complications*
- Mild allergic reaction to the contrast dye
- Infection or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
- Radiation exposure (minimal)

*Results*
Your doctor will discuss the results with you, which may indicate:
- Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
- Uterine abnormalities (e.g., polyps, fibroids)
- Normal or abnormal uterine shape

*Next Steps*
If abnormalities are found, your doctor may recommend further testing, treatment, or referral to a specialist.
Here in global diagnostic laboratory, your HSG diagnosis is rest assured. Our patient is our priority.
