🛑 Not every patient should be mobilized immediately.

I Assess first. Check precautions. Know when to stop.

👩🏽‍⚕️ Safe mobility starts with a good clinical assessment.

If you’re a physio or a student, don’t just think, “Let’s mobilize.”

First ask yourself: Is this patient actually safe to mobilize right now?

Look out for things like unstable vital signs, suspected fractures, acute DVT/PE, uncontrolled bleeding, severe chest pain, or sudden neurological deterioration.

Because sometimes, the safest thing you can do is STOP, reassess, and escalate. 🩺

Your body doesn’t always start with pain. Sometimes, it starts with small changes you may ignore.

Stiffness. Weakness. Reduced movement. Balance changes. Constantly changing positions because you can’t get comfortable.

These can be signs that something needs attention — and you don’t always have to wait until the pain becomes severe before seeking help.

Rest heals bones. Movement rebuilds them. 🦴

Sounds backwards, right? But there’s actual science behind it — it’s called Wolff’s Law: bone gets stronger based on the stress you put on it. No stress, no rebuild.

That’s literally why astronauts come back from space with weaker bones — zero gravity, zero load, zero signal to grow. 🚀

Same thing happens if you fully immobilize a fracture for too long. The right guided movement — at the right time — tells your bone “we need you here, build back stronger.”

Too much too soon? Re-injury.
Too little too late? Stiffness and weak bone for months.

That’s the exact line physiotherapy walks for you.
