"I wish I could be there more often."

If you've ever said those words about your parents, you're not alone.
Many of us are trying to balance work, family, and life while our parents grow older in a different city, state, or even country. We call. We check in. We ask if they're okay.

And most times, the answer is the same:
"I'm fine."

But aging isn't always about illness. Sometimes it's forgetting to take medication on time. Sometimes it's eating alone. Sometimes it's struggling with daily tasks that used to be easy. And sometimes, it's simply not having someone around to notice when something isn't quite right.
This is why Lana Healthcare exists.

We help families stay connected to the well-being of their aging loved ones through professional home-based elderly care designed to provide support, companionship, comfort, and peace of mind.

Because caring for our parents isn't just about being there when something goes wrong. It's about making sure they're cared for even when life keeps us apart.

If you have a parent aged 50 and above, this conversation is worth having.
Send us a message. We'd be happy to answer your questions and show you how we can support your loved ones.

When it comes to our aging parents, "just anyone" won't do. You need eyes you can trust, hands that are gentle, and hearts that truly care.

Night-time restlessness can be difficult for both the person living with dementia and the family caring for them. It may show up as pacing, repeatedly getting out of bed, calling out, confusion, or being unable to settle.

Here are some things that may help:

1. Keep a consistent routine
Try to have similar times for waking, meals, activities and bedtime each day. A predictable routine can make nights less confusing.

2. Encourage activity during the day
Gentle exercise, walking or simple activities during the day can help reduce excessive daytime sleeping and support better sleep at night.

3. Limit long daytime naps
Sleeping for long periods during the day can make it harder to sleep at night. If your father needs a nap, keep it earlier and shorter where possible.

4. Make the bedroom calm and comfortable
Keep the room quiet, comfortable and at a suitable temperature. Reduce bright lights and unnecessary noise around bedtime.

5. Check for physical discomfort
Restlessness may sometimes be a sign that something is wrong. Check whether he needs to use the toilet, is hungry or thirsty, is in pain, or is feeling too hot or cold.

6. Reassure him instead of arguing
If he wakes up confused or frightened, speaking calmly and reassuring him can be more helpful than trying to convince him that he is mistaken.

7. Look for changes that may need medical attention
A sudden increase in confusion or restlessness can sometimes be linked to pain, infection, medication side effects or another medical problem. Speak with his healthcare professional if the behaviour is new, severe or persistent.

As our parents get older, there may come a time when some things they used to do easily become more difficult.

Sometimes, the changes are obvious. Other times, they happen so gradually that we don't notice them until they become a bigger concern.

Here are some signs to look out for:

• They are struggling with simple daily activities like bathing, dressing or preparing meals.

• They forget to take their medications or keep missing appointments.

• They seem weaker or more unsteady on their feet.

• They are eating less than usual or losing weight without an obvious reason.

• Their personal hygiene is no longer what it used to be.

• They seem more confused, withdrawn or different in their behaviour.

• Things they once handled on their own, like keeping the house or managing their routine, are becoming difficult.

Growing older doesn't automatically mean someone can no longer live independently. But when you begin to notice several of these changes, it may be time to pay closer attention.

Sometimes, what an elderly parent needs isn't for someone to take over their life. They simply need a little more support with the things that are becoming difficult.

And noticing that need early can make a big difference.

Caring for an elderly parent is one of the greatest ways to show love.

But as they grow older, their needs may become more than the family can comfortably manage alone.

Between work, children, business and other responsibilities, being available every day can be difficult. And when your loved one needs help with mobility, medication routines, nutrition, daily activities or simply someone to keep them company, having trained professional support can make a real difference.

Professional elderly home care gives your loved one consistent, personalized support while allowing them to remain in the comfort of their own home.

And it doesn't mean the family is doing less.

It means you have the right support to do it better.

We provide compassionate, professional care tailored to the needs of your elderly loved one right at home.

Because your parent deserves more than occasional help. They deserve quality care, dignity and companionship.
