π Timing of medications is as important as the medication itself.
Statins are medications used by people with high cholesterol/fat to reduce cholesterol in the body.
Also used by high risk individuals such as people with diabetes, hypertension... who have a high tendency of developing heart diseases.
Cholesterol production in the body happens at night. Therefore these medications are targeted to ensure night time is well covered.
There are long acting statins- stays about 12-24 hrs in the body, example Rosuvastatin- these can be taken any time of the day.
There are short acting ones- they stay about 1-3 hrs in the body, example simvastatin- these ones should be taken at night time to ensure the period of highest cholesterol production, (which is night time) is covered.
Right timing! Excellent result.
