Do you belong to the school of thought that Monday to Thursday is “health mode”?

What happens to your healthy habits when Friday arrives?

The reality is that your cardiovascular health isn't built in four days.

It's influenced by the patterns you repeat throughout your week.

I know that weekends are for owambes etc

But you don't have to avoid them or restaurants, celebrations or your favourite foods.

Just enjoy them without completely abandoning the habits that support your health.

It’s more practical to choose :

Balance over restriction.

Consistency over perfection.

And progress over the “I'll start again on Monday” mindset.

Pay attention to your cholesterol.

Your heart may not be asking for much.

But it is asking for consistency in diet and lifestyle

You don't need a perfect lifestyle to support cardiovascular health.

You just need to stop normalising habits that gradually work against it.

Move more.

Sleep better.

Know your cholesterol numbers

Eat more nourishing foods.

And know your health numbers.

The goal isn't to become obsessed with your health.

It's to become intentional about it.

Your heart has been working for you every second.

Give it something to work with.

Do you know that :

📌Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally, responsible for roughly 1 in 3 deaths worldwide.

📌Annual Mortality: CVDs claim an estimated 19 to 20.5 million lives each year.

Just because your blood pressure is normal, don’t assume that your heart must be fine.

Though blood pressure is an important part of cardiovascular health, it’s only one piece of the puzzle.

Your cholesterol

blood sugar

triglycerides

lifestyle

family history

and other factors can also influence your cardiovascular risk.

This is why regular health checks matter, even when you feel perfectly fine.

Knowing your numbers empowers you to take the right steps

That’s why I’m inviting you to my 21 day cholesterol and heart reset program which covers those root starts In September

Sandra rejected my offer of mixed nuts at my office

So I asked her why

Her response surprised me

She said that they are high in fat therefore raise her cholesterol levels

I burst out laughing

And I bust the myth she held that …..

You should avoid nuts because they contain fat and so raise bad cholesterol levels

The Truth is that nuts are high in:

📌unsaturated fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats ,

📌fibre that affect bile acid metabolism,

📌plant sterols that reduce how the intestine absorbs cholesterol ,

📌🥒protein and other bioactive compounds that can lower bad cholesterol and support cardiovascular health.

Remember to be mindful of portion size and how the nuts are processed eg unsalted nuts

Do you know that your next meal is an opportunity to boost your health?

If it’s the right one

I know a lot of times, we health professionals tell you to remove this and that from your diet

but …..

I’d like you to start asking yourself another question…..

“What can I add to my diet that supports my heart?”

Let me give you a hint ……

Add:

📌More fibre-rich foods.

📌More vegetables.

📌More whole foods.

📌Healthier sources of unsaturated fats.

⚠️And fewer foods high in saturated and trans fats like margarine and spreads

However, your cardiovascular health is influenced by patterns, not one perfect meal.

Start with your next plate.

Your cholesterol report has several numbers.

Do you actually know what they mean?

LDL, HDL, triglycerides and total cholesterol are not interchangeable.

Understanding the difference can help you have a much more informed conversation about your cardiovascular health.

And remember, one number doesn't tell the entire story.

Your blood pressure, blood sugar, smoking status, age, family history and other factors can also influence cardiovascular risk.

Don't just collect your lab results.

Understand them.

Your health decisions are better when they're informed by knowledge.

Yinka couldn’t understand how her cholesterol levels could be high despite the fact that she felt and looked healthy

I had to explain to her that having high cholesterol is often called a silent risk factor

because you may not experience any warning signs.

That's why waiting for symptoms isn't a good cardiovascular strategy.

When was the last time you checked your numbers?

Knowing your numbers gives you information.

And information gives you an opportunity to be proactive about your health

Don't wait for your body to feel different before you start paying attention.

Sometimes prevention begins with a simple blood test

It’s time to bust another myth!

Wait... if I don't eat cholesterol, why is my cholesterol high?

This is a question many people ask after seeing an unexpected cholesterol result.

The truth is, your blood cholesterol is a much bigger picture than simply the cholesterol found in your food.

Your body makes cholesterol naturally.

Your genetics, dietary pattern, physical activity, body composition, and other factors can also influence your levels.

This is why two people can eat similar foods and have very different cholesterol results.

Don't just ask, “What food should I stop eating?”

Ask, “What is my overall cardiovascular picture telling me?”

Just start from where you are

Just put one step forward and continue

You don't need a perfect workout routine to start taking care of your beautiful heart.

You need movement you can actually sustain.

If your work keeps you behind a desk for hours,

you must start by interrupting those long periods of sitting

By doing these simple things :

📌Walk during a break.

📌Take the stairs when appropriate.

📌Move after meals, it balances your sugar levels

📌Go for a brisk walk.

Those small decisions improve your cardiovascular health

as you build those daily habits.

Don't wait for January.

Don't wait for a diagnosis.

Don't wait until you have more time.

CREATE THE TIME!!

Start with the movement you can do today.
