There are some health tools we see so often that we stop thinking about how important they really are.
THERMOMETER is one of them
when someone suddenly feels sick, that little device can become one of the first things we reach for.

In healthcare, we commonly use it to measure body temperature, which is one of the basic observations used when assessing someone's condition.
Our bodies naturally maintain a relatively stable internal temperature, but the temperature can change for many reasons. The time of day, physical activity, the environment and the method used to measure temperature can all influence a reading.
This is why different readings from different people or from the same person at different time are been displayed to that device(THERMOMETER).

The number displayed on a thermometer is therefore important, but the number should always be understood in context.
You may see a thermometer display a reading such as 36.5°C, 37.0°C, 37.5°C.

A temperature taken in the mouth may not be exactly the same as one taken in the armpit, ear, or forehead. Different types of thermometers are designed for different methods.
NOTE: manufacturer's instructions should always be followed.
This is why you should not assume that every thermometer can be used in exactly the same way.

Another important thing we should understand is that a thermometer does not diagnose a disease.
The next time we see that little thermometer sitting in our first-aid or medical supplies box, don't just think of it as something you use when someone feels sick.
Think of it as a tool that helps turn a sensation into measurable information.
