This is an epidural needle🥹
long, sharp, terrifying.
It goes deep into a mother’s spine,
while she’s already breaking with contractions.

Yet she bows her back, stays still,
and takes it.
Not because it’s easy.
But because her baby is worth every pain. ❤️

C-section is not for cowards. It is for warriors.
Because behind those bright lights of the operating room, a mother is lying still, surrendering her body to pain, to fear, to scars, and still choosing love.

They say: “Why did you choose a C-section?”
The truth is, we didn’t. We never wished for seven layers of skin to be cut, for our spine to feel the sting of anaesthesia, for the soreness that makes even breathing heavy.
We didn’t choose the scar.
We chose life.
We chose the heartbeat of our baby over the comfort of our own body.

Days later, when we struggle to stand, when the stitches pull, when our body feels broken, we still carry our babies with a smile. Mothers are warriors 💯📌.

God bless and Keep all mothers .

Dialysis is not just painful, it is expensive, exhausting, and lifelong.
Many people think kidney failure happens suddenly.
Truth is, it’s built slowly by habits we ignore daily.

💰 Dialysis costs:
- Huge amounts of money every week
- Repeated hospital visits
- Loss of productive time and strength
- Emotional and financial strain on families

And here’s the painful part 👉 Dialysis sustains life, it does not cure kidney failure.

Most people on dialysis wish they had:
❌ Drunk more water
❌ Controlled blood pressure and diabetes early
❌ Reduced salt, alcohol, and painkiller abuse especially NSAIDS
❌ Taken regular medical checkups seriously

Remember Kidney care is cheap while Dialysis is not. Dialysis is a palliative care.
Protect your kidneys today, before they start billing you tomorrow.....Take your health seriously..... Health is wealth 😊

DOWN SYNDROME: (Called Imbecile by a lay man)

《Pregnancy is a season of hope, planning, and big expectations. Alongside choosing baby names and preparing the nursery, there’s something equally important that often doesn’t get enough attention: understanding genetic conditions that can affect a child — one of the most common being Down syndrome》

~Let me clearly, honestly, and sentiment break it down to your consumption.

》 What Is Down Syndrome?

Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21. Instead of the usual two copies, a person with Down syndrome has three — a situation medically referred to as Trisomy 21.

~ This extra genetic material affects physical development, learning ability, and overall health. It is not an illness, not contagious, and not caused by spiritual or moral factors.

》Key Features You Should Know;

~ Children born with Down syndrome may have:

♦️ Delayed speech and learning development

♦️ Mild to moderate intellectual disability

♦️ Distinct facial features (such as upward-slanting eyes and a flat nasal bridge)

♦️ Low muscle tone

♦️ Increased risk of congenital heart defects, thyroid problems, and hearing or vision issues

》Importantly, many individuals with Down syndrome live healthy, meaningful lives when given early medical care, therapy, and social support.

¿What exactly Causes Down Syndrome?

Down syndrome occurs due to an error in cell division during the formation of the egg or s***m. This error is random and usually not inherited.

However, some factors increase risk:

` Advanced maternal age (especially mothers aged 35 and above)

`Previous pregnancy affected by Down syndrome

`Certain chromosomal rearrangements in one parent (rare case)

It’s important to understand that - any pregnancy, at any age, can be affected.

You cannot completely prevent Down syndrome, but early planning and proper prenatal care matters.

》What expecting or planning parents should do:

♦️ Begin antenatal care early

♦️ Avoid alcohol, smoking, and illicit drugs during pregnancy

♦️ Manage chronic illnesses (like diabetes or hypertension) properly

♦️ Take folic acid as prescribed

♦️ Get accurate prenatal screening and testing

And don't forget that earlier knowledge allows for better preparation, better care, and better outcomes.

¿Ever heard of NIPT and Why NIPT Is a Game-Changer?

One of the most important advancements in prenatal care today is NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing).

NIPT is a simple blood test done on the mother as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy. It analyzes small fragments of fetal DNA circulating in the mother’s blood.

This process can detect:

♦️ Down syndrome (Trisomy 21)

♦️ Trisomy 18 and Trisomy 13

♦️ S*x chromosome abnormalities

♦️ Fetal s*x (if parents wish to know)

Why NIPT matters:

No risk to the baby

Very high accuracy for Down syndrome

Allows early decision making and planning

Reduces anxiety caused by uncertainty

NIPT does not replace diagnostic tests, but it is currently the most reliable early screening tool available.

Early detection gives parents time to understand the condition, access to specialist care early, opportunity for emotional and financial preparation, a better neonatal and long-term outcomes for the child

This is not about fear — it’s about informed parenting.

A take home for Expecting Parents

Down syndrome is not a failure, a curse, or a punishment. It is a genetic variation that requires knowledge, preparation, and compassion.

Whether your baby is typical or has special needs, the goal remains the same: a healthy pregnancy, a safe delivery, and the best possible life for your child.

Ask questions. Request proper screening. Choose information over assumptions.

Healthy pregnancies start with informed choices.

MANAGEMENT OF FIBROID

This involves Non- surgical approach and the surgical approach.
1. THE SURGICAL APPROACH : this includes the following;
* WAIT AND WATCH: for asymptomatic Fibroids, a doctor may recommend monitoring their growth.

* MEDICATIONS: such as pain relief, NSAID eg ibuprofen, narrowed and hormonal drugs may be given to you.
GnRH agonist, : these medications temporarily shrink Fibroids by including a menopausal state. But typically, used for short term treatment before surgery.

*TRANEXAMIC ACID: This medication is taken only during heavy menstrual periods to reduce bleeding.

2. MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURES:

* UTERINE FIBROID EMBOLIZATION (UFE): A procedure where the doctor block the blood supply today the Fibroid causing it to shrink.

* MRI GUIDED ULTRASOUND SURGERY(MRGFUS):
Uses focused ultrasound waves to destroy Fibroid tissue with invasiveness.

* RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION (MYOLYSIS): here. heat is used to destroy Fibroid, often through a minimal invasive procedure.

3. SURGICAL OPTIONS:
* MYOMECTOMY: The surgical removal of Fibroids while keeping the uterus intact.often choosen by those who wish to preserve fertility.

* HYSTERECTOMY: The surgical removal of the uterus either total or subtotal. Which the definition of Fibroid nit coming back again.

RISK FACTORS TO UTERINE FIBROIDS
BIRTH CONTROL: Using birth control pill before tye age of 16 may be linked with a higher risk.

RACE: All people of reproductive age who were born female. Although black race are more likely to have Fibroidthan other racial group.

COMPLICATIONS OF FIBROID IN PREGNANCY
Fibroid don't interfere with getting pregnant. Although, some Fibroids such as the submucosal layer Fibroid could cause infertility or pregnancy loss.
Fibroid also may raise the risk of certain pregnancy such as:

* ABRUPTIO PLACENTA: A situation where the placenta separates from the inner wall of the uterus before the expected date of delivery.

* FETAL GROWTH RESTRICTION:When an unborn baby in the uterus doesn't grow as well as expected before date of delivery.

* PRETERM DELIVERY/ PREMATURE BIRTH: The baby is born too early before 37th week of pregnancy.

PREVENTION OF FIBROID/ MYOMA
Fibroid growth is hereditary however ,you may be able to lower your Fibroid risk with healthy life style changes such as:
* stay at all healthy weight
* Get regular exercise
*Eat balanced diet
* Avoid early use of contraceptive pills.

CAUSES OF UTERINE FIBROIDS/ MYOMA
it is unclear, why Fibroids develops ,however, some factors may influence it.such as:

1. HORMONAL FACTORS:
The ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone. These hormones cause the uterine lining to regenerate during each menstrual cycles and stimulates the growth of Fibroids.

* PREGNANCY: Pregnancy increases the chances of Fibroids growth. During pregnancy ,estrogen and progesterone are produced in a large quantity which makes Fibroids develop and grow rapidly.

* EARLY MENSTRUATION: this increases the chances of Fibroids and menopause.

* MENOPAUSE: Fibroid tends to shrink significantly after menopause because hormone level drops.

2. GENETIC AND BIOLOGICAL FACTORS

*HEREDITARY: family history shows evidence that it runs in families.

*. GENETIC CHANGES: Many Fibroids contain genetic changes that are different from normal uterine muscle cells.

*. STEM CELL ORIGIN: Many Fibroids may start from stem cell origin of smooth muscle tissue of the uterus and divides repeatedly.

LIFE STYLE AND OTHER FACTORS

*.AGE: Fibroids tend to grow in certain child bearing age women, basically from 30years and above

*. WEIGHT : Obesity increase the risk of Fibroid developing in the uterus.

*. DIET: Diets high in red meat, lack of fruits , vegetables and vitamin D posses high risk.

WHEN TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR
* pelvic pain that does not go away.
* Heavy or painful menstrual flow that limits what you can do.
* spotting or bleeding in between periods.
* ongoing tiredness or weakness which can be a symptom of Anaemia.

UTERINE FIBROID/ MYOMA

Fibroids are common growth of the uterus. They often appear during child bearing year which is from 25-49 years.

Fibroids are abnormal growth that develops in the uterus of a woman.
Sometimes these tumors become quite large and cause severe abdominal pains and heavy menstrual flow/ bleeding. In most cases, they are asymptomatic and shows no sign at all.

These growths are typically benign or noncancerous.

TYPES OF FIBROIDS/MYOMA

1. INTRAMURAL FIBROIDS: these growth are more common in women.and appear on the muscular wall of the uterus. Intramural Fibroids may grow larger and stretch the uterus there by preventing conception.
2. SUBSEROUS FIBROIDS: They form on the outside of the uterus which is called serosa .they may grow larger to make the uterus appear bigger on one side.
3. PEDUNCULATED FIBROIDS: here, subserosal Fibroids may grow on the stem,a slender base that supports the tumor.when this happens, It is called pedunculated Fibroids.
4. SUBMUCOSAL FIBROIDS: These Fibroids are not common, they grow on the myometruim ,the middle muscle layer of the uterus.

5. CERVICAL FIBROIDS: These Fibroids develops on the cervix, and can prevent conception.

SYMPTOMS OF UTERINE FIBROIDS/ MYOMA

Estrogen and progesterone hormones, stimulates the growth of Fibroids in a woman.
The symptoms one may have depends on the position of the Fibroid and menstruation that would happy
1. Heavy bleeding between or during periods.
2 . Menstrual clot
3. Menstruation that last more than normal.

4. Painful keep
5. Fullness in the lower abdomen
6. S*x during intercourrse.
7. Increase urination

To be contd.
