Umoh Iwok
The Executive Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (AKSPHCDA), Dr.(Mrs.)Eno Attah, has ushered in the month of June with a resolute call to action, demanding total rededication to duty from the agency’s workforce. Addressing staff members in the agency’s conference room, Dr. Ata expressed profound gratitude for a successful month of May and formally welcomed the staff to the new month, while advocating for professional transformation and grassroots accountability.
The Executive Secretary called on all staff to deeply reflect on and promote the vision and mission of the agency, emphasizing that the organization’s core mandate, ensuring access to affordable and equitable primary healthcare services is a "sacred trust" that must be upheld. She declared that this vision must be actualized, noting that every staff member must ensure the people they serve have real, unfettered access to primary healthcare, as their actions must reflect the mission of serving the people all the time.
Dr Ata enjoined staff to move beyond administrative duties and engage directly with communities. She specifically tasked personnel to personally visit primary healthcare centres in their respective villages and wards to ascertain their functionality and service quality. She noted that gaining firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing rural health centres is essential for the agency to deliver on its promise of equitable care.
She encouraged all staff to register with the State Health Insurance Scheme, describing it as a fundamental pillar of the healthcare system. Beyond personal registration, she urged the workforce to educate and inform the public on how to access and benefit from the scheme.
The Executive Secretary concluded with a firm warning on workplace discipline, stating that it will no longer be "business as usual" within the agency. She asserted that punctuality is highly essential and not negotiable, warning that the agency would no longer tolerate laxity, as the lives and well-being of citizens depend on the timely and dedicated service of the health workforce.
