OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS are risk associated with working in specific occupations.
There are about four(4) categories of occupational health hazards;biological, ergonomic, chemical, and physical hazards. In addition to the four types of hazards, employers must also consider hazards leading to slips, trips, and falls.

WHY THIS TOPIC?
Recently in my practice I have seen people rushed in with either foreign object in the eye, tear on the lid and scratched cornea etc.
Are you a carpenter, a welder, a painter, cement factory worker or working in a company that uses heavy equipment? Please always request for safety googles before start of work.

Companies and employers of labor should please provide all safety gears to the employees.
Safety education to your workers should be done at least twice a year.

SAVE YOUR SIGHT 👍

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST, AN OPTOMETRIST AND AN OPTICIAN.

When it’s time to get your eyes checked, please make sure you are seeing the right eye care professional. Each member of the eye care team plays an important role in giving you good eye care.
Why is it imperative for me to share this information? This is because most of the time people get confuse or may be misinformed about the different roles they play.
The levels of training and expertise, and what they are allowed to do for you are the major difference between the types of eye care providers.

OPHTHALMOLOGIST: An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eye and vision care. They are licensed to perform eye exams, diagnose and treat eye disease, prescribe medication and perform eye surgeries. They also write prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses.

OPTOMETRIST: An optometrist is an health care professional who is licensed to provide primary vision care ranging from vision testing, prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses, diagnosis, treatment, and management of vision changes.

OPTICIAN: Opticians are technicians trained to design, verify and fit lenses and frames, and other visual aids. They use prescriptions supplied by ophthalmologist or optometrist, but do not test vision or write prescriptions for visual correction. They do not diagnose or treat eye diseases.

Heard of the “20-20-20” rule?
This simply means for every 20mins you spend on your computer, phone and other gadgets, take 20seconds to look 20 feets away❤️.
This will give relieve to eye strain and other associated symptoms 👍.
