ADVOCATING FOR BETTER REMUNERATION AND IMPROVED WORKING CONDITIONS FOR YOUNG PHARMACISTS IN AKWA IBOM STATE

Since assuming office, the 2025/2026 Executive Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG), Akwa Ibom State, under the leadership of Pharm. Samuel Robert, has remained committed to advancing the welfare and professional growth of young pharmacists across the state.

Recognizing the need for fair remuneration and improved working conditions within community pharmacy practice, the Executive Council has held series of strategic engagements with relevant stakeholders to address these concerns in a collaborative and sustainable manner.

One of the major milestones in this advocacy was a joint meeting involving the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Akwa Ibom State Branch, and Young Pharmacists in Akwa Ibom State.

The meeting focused on deliberating the PSN-YPG proposed benchmark remuneration for community pharmacy employees in Akwa Ibom State.

The objective was not merely to present the aspirations of young pharmacists but to develop a balanced and practical framework that also reflects the realities, expectations and perspectives of community pharmacy employers.

This consultative approach demonstrates the administration's commitment to dialogue, mutual respect and evidence-based solutions that will strengthen the profession while promoting healthier employer-employee relationships.

The Pharm. Samuel Robert-led administration believes that a motivated and fairly compensated workforce is essential for delivering quality pharmaceutical care and advancing healthcare outcomes across Akwa Ibom State.

Through continued collaboration with stakeholders, the administration remains optimistic that meaningful progress will be achieved in creating a more rewarding and sustainable practice environment for young pharmacists.

Together, we are building a profession where excellence is recognized, dedication is rewarded, and every young pharmacist has the opportunity to thrive.
