After three months away from the mat, I slowly found my way back to yoga during these couple of weeks at home - country.

My sister, a yoga teacher, Joga ° Wrocław° Wyjazdy z jogą , guided our practices and I also joined her four-day summer retreat.

And on the mat, right across from me, was often my mum. Her presence brought such a simple feeling of joy, connection and togetherness.

Little by little, my strength, mobility and range of movement returned.
But more importantly, my body started to feel less foreign again.

Yoga has been my companion in learning to understand every part of my body, listening to it, respecting its limits, and most of all, learning to love it with more tenderness.

Soon I’ll be back in Amsterdam, but I’m taking this feeling of coming home to myself with me. 🤍

Big thanks to my girls for making this journey so lovely 🥰

Five days surrounded by folk songs, dreams, voices, and people singing together.

It was an important experience but perhaps not for the reasons I expected.

A couple of months ago, I had surgery that affected my voice. Singing has been part of my life since I can remember, and it is also part of my work. Right now, I am taking time away from work and giving my body the space it needs to recover.

My voice is still not where it used to be. Its capacity is probably 40% of what it was before.

And honestly, that is difficult.

So being surrounded by people singing for five days felt both incredibly beautiful and strangely confronting.

There were moments when I wanted to sing freely and simply couldn't.

And yet, I kept singing.

Not with the voice I had before.

With the voice I have now.

Letting this smaller, more fragile, still-recovering voice be heard was perhaps one of the hardest and most healing things I could have done.

I came to the workshop thinking I would explore folk songs and dreams.

I left feeling that I had been reminded of something much deeper:

My voice is not only what it can produce.
It is also the courage to let it be heard.

Even when it sounds different. Imperfect.
Even when its capacity is reduced.
Even when I don't know yet what it will become.

I am still here.
And I am still singing. 🤍

Big thank you to .pakosa for hearing me despite my voice being challenging to hear within a group is strong voices 🙏

This moment is from a recent private 1:1 Sound Healing Practitioner training with Maren, .

Maren already plays the harmonium, so she was eager to explore the shruti box, even though it's an instrument I usually introduce much later, during the second half of Level 2.

At first, she was quite shy, both with the instrument and with allowing her voice to emerge through intuitive singing. Like many of us, she hesitated to fully express herself.

But by the third day, something shifted.

She stopped overthinking, trusted the process, and allowed herself to flow. Her voice became freer, her confidence grew, and the music started to come naturally.

Moments like these are why I love teaching. It's not just about learning techniques or instruments, it's about creating a safe space where people can trust themselves, express themselves, and discover what's already within them.

Thank you, Maren, for allowing me to share this beautiful glimpse of your journey. 💛

When I first started working with sound, social media made me believe that every sound healer owned a magical room filled with instruments.

Now, years later, people walk into my studio, see my collection, and often say:

"I could never do this... I don't have all these instruments."

And that's exactly why I want to say this:

Please don't compare your beginning to someone else's seventh year.

Every bowl, gong, chime and instrument in my collection has a story. None of them were bought because I thought I needed them. They came into my life one by one, when I felt ready to truly learn their voice.

I believe every instrument deserves respect. It isn't just another object to collect, it's a new language to learn.

In my trainings, I actually encourage students not to buy too much in the beginning.

Start with a few carefully chosen instruments.

Get to know them deeply.

Discover how they interact with each other.

Learn to create silence, rhythm, tension and release.

Only then, when your confidence grows, invite another instrument into your practice.

Because beautiful sound journeys are never about how much you own.

They're about how present you are.

Master the instrument before buying the next one.

Three days. One voice. A beautiful transformation.

Today Maren completed her 1:1 Sound Healing Practitioner Training, and my heart is so full.

This training was born from one simple request: "I want to learn intuitive singing." A practice that has become a signature part of my sound healing sessions and the way I guide shamanic ceremonies.

Over these three days, we explored so much more than the voice itself. We explored its possibilities, its healing capacity, and the stories it carries. We spoke about shame, shyness, power, self-expression, and what it means to truly own your voice.

Together we sang with the drum, the Shruti box, and crystal bowls, creating a space where every sound was welcome.

Each day I watched Maren open a little more, trust a little more, and remember something that had always been within her.

Congratulations, Maren, .
It has been an honour to witness your journey. May your voice continue to guide, heal, and inspire-both yourself and everyone who has the privilege of hearing it.

Nie uczę grania na misach.

Uczę prowadzenia ludzi.

To dwie zupełnie różne rzeczy.

Podczas szkolenia oczywiście poznasz instrumenty, techniki i strukturę sesji.

I've been reflecting on my own experiences with teachers and mentors over the years. This isn't about any one person, but about a shift that can happen as we grow.

There comes a point when you stop being "the student" in any real sense, even if nothing officially changes.

You start thinking for yourself.
You notice dynamics, not just guidance.
You begin relating to your mentor as another human being, not simply an authority.

That's often where things become uncomfortable.

Some relationships continue as though the hierarchy still exists, even when, internally, it no longer does.

Gratitude can make this especially difficult. It can keep us from speaking honestly, setting boundaries, or naming what no longer feels right because we don't want to disrupt something that once helped us.

But growth eventually asks for honesty over harmony.

Sometimes honesty sounds like:
"I don't experience this the same way anymore."
"This needs to be clearer for me going forward."
"I'm not available for this dynamic anymore."

Not everything that helped you grow is meant to stay the same shape forever.

Not every teacher–student relationship survives the moment two people begin meeting as equals.

Sometimes the real turning point isn't what you learn from a mentor.

It's when you stop needing their interpretation of your own experience.

After all, teachers and mentors are human too, with their own strengths, limitations, wisdom, and blind spots.

I'm curious: what has your experience with a teacher or mentor taught you?

There is a special kind of work that often goes unseen.

The work that happens before the doors open.
Before the first participant arrives.
Before the retreat, workshop, training or gathering begins.

The planning.
The logistics.
The difficult conversations.
The problem-solving.
The countless small decisions that nobody notices when everything runs smoothly.

And perhaps that is the paradox of good organising: when it is done well, it becomes almost invisible.

This post is an appreciation of everyone who works behind the scenes to create spaces for connection, learning, healing and community.

The facilitators and teachers are important. So are the organisers, coordinators, assistants, volunteers and all those quietly holding the structure that makes the experience possible.

Invisible work is still work.
Care is still care, even when no one sees it.

If you've ever organised an event, retreat, workshop or gathering, I'd love to hear: what is one piece of behind-the-scenes work that people rarely realise goes into making it happen?
