🌿 What is Reiki? 🌿
This is the first article in a series where I’ll be exploring Reiki—its origins, philosophy, and the impact it can have on our wellbeing, our relationships, and our connection with ourselves and the world around us.
When many people hear the word Reiki, they think of a healing treatment. But Reiki is much more than that.
At its heart, Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice that supports balance and harmony within the whole person—body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
The word Reiki comes from Japan and is often translated as “universal life-force energy.”
✨ Rei refers to spiritual wisdom, higher intelligence, or the universal consciousness that guides life.
✨ Ki refers to the life-force energy that flows through all living things.
Together, Reiki can be understood as working with this universal energy to support healing, personal growth, self-awareness, and inner balance.
What particularly resonates with me is the idea that true wellbeing isn’t just about addressing physical symptoms. It’s about creating harmony across every aspect of our lives.
As someone who feels most at home in nature, especially around horses, I’ve often witnessed how calm presence, intention, and connection can influence both people and animals. Reiki offers another way of exploring that connection.
The Reiki system widely practiced today was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. His teachings have since spread around the world, helping countless people deepen their awareness of themselves and their capacity for healing.
This post is just the beginning.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about:
