Many veterans live with the lasting consequences of spinal cord injury, including blood pressure instability that can greatly affect both cardiovascular health and quality of life.

Robley Rex VA Medical Center (Louisville, KY), and James J. Peters VA Medical Center (Bronx, NY) are two centers now actively recruiting for Empower BP. This is the first global pivotal study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of our investigational ARC-IM® System to address blood pressure instability in people living with .

Veterans with spinal cord injuries face significant daily challenges. Innovative technologies have the potential to meaningfully impact their rehabilitation journey and everyday lives.

This month, Senator Jerry Moran, chairman of the US Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, introduced the Veterans Spinal Trauma Access to New Devices (STAND) Act. The STAND Act has already been introduced in the US House of Representatives by Rep. Jack Bergman, Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Mike Bost, Rep. Joe Neguse, and Rep. Josh Gottheimer. This bipartisan and bicameral legislation would ensure annual preventive health evaluations for Veterans living with SCI and other movement disorders and expand access to assistive technologies to better support their needs.

We fully support this important legislation and the expansion of access to innovative tools that support rehabilitation and autonomy, alongside leading organizations such as the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Medical Device Manufacturers Association (M**A), and the ITEM (Independence through the Enhancement of Medicare and Medicaid) Coalition. The STAND Act is essential to ensuring Veterans receive the care they need and deserve, empowering them to thrive beyond their military service.
