New research has found signs that may help researchers better understand why some babies are born early. Some signs are present as early as the first trimester. These findings provide biological clues that may help researchers and clinicians better understand early birth, and—in the future—develop improved tools to identify pregnancies at higher risk.

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a common condition in preterm infants in which the fetal blood vessel connection between the aorta and the pulmonary artery does not close normally after birth. The condition can increase the risk of serious illness and mortality, particularly among the smallest preterm infants.

Early administration of paracetamol may accelerate closure of the patent ductus arteriosus in extremely preterm babies, according to a new study.

Today is Kangaroo Care Day 🦘
Skin-to-skin contact is one of the most powerful things a parent can offer their newborn — supporting brain development, reducing stress, and strengthening a bond that lasts a lifetime.
At Bambi Medical, we're proud to support the families and caregivers who make this moment possible every day.

The presence of a parent next to their baby is not only beneficial for bonding but can also positively affect the baby's brain development. For example, a study has found that hearing their mother’s voice promotes the development of language pathways in a premature baby’s brain. This finding offers a potentially transformative way to approach neonatal care to promote better language outcomes in children born prematurely.

Premature babies who heard recordings of their mothers reading to them had more mature white matter in a key language area of the brain, a Stanford Medicine-led study found.

💫 The Golden Hour matters 💫

New clinical research shows that Bambi wireless monitoring can capture newborn heart rate and breathing activity within seconds after birth—without adhesives and without interrupting skin-to-skin contact.

We’re proud that Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis participated in this research, contributing to advancing newborn care.

Because the first hour of life deserves both connection and care.

March was a milestone month for Bambi Medical 🌟

🎉 We celebrated our 10-year anniversary — a decade dedicated to improving care for premature babies.
🏥 Máxima Medical Center has adopted the Bambi Belt as standard of care, and more hospitals are following in bringing dEMG wireless monitoring to the NICU.

Proud of how far we’ve come — and excited for what’s ahead.
More to come soon.

Today is NIDCAP Day 🍼 (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program)

Every newborn communicates through subtle signals, movements, and rhythms. NIDCAP reminds us to listen carefully and adapt care to each baby’s individual needs, helping reduce stress and support healthy development from the very beginning.

Family presence plays a crucial role in a newborn’s development, helping support both physical and mental well-being from the very beginning.

At Bambi Medical, we believe innovation should enable this closeness, contributing to NICU environments where babies, families, and caregivers stay connected.

A world-first in neonatal care 💙

At Máxima MC Veldhoven (MMC), the Bambi Belt has become standard of care for premature babies — the result of a close and dedicated collaboration.

Together with MMC, we worked side by side to bring this innovation into daily clinical practice, with one shared goal: giving premature babies the gentlest possible start. We are also grateful for the contributions of our other clinical partners, Amsterdam UMC and Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis, whose collaboration made this milestone possible.

Because every premature baby deserves the gentlest possible start.

🎉 10 Years of Bambi Medical 🎉

This March, we proudly celebrate 10 years of Bambi Medical—a decade dedicated to innovation for premature babies.

Over the past ten years, our team has worked closely with clinicians, researchers, and partners to develop technologies that improve monitoring and care for the smallest and most vulnerable patients. Together, we share one mission: helping give premature babies a safer and stronger start in life.

“Celebrating 10 years of Bambi Medical is a moment of great pride. Our team’s passion for innovation and our commitment to improving care for premature babies continue to drive everything we do. I’m incredibly grateful to our colleagues, partners, and supporters who have been part of this journey. Together, we are making a meaningful difference for the tiniest patients and their families.”— Fabio Bambang Oetomo, CEO of Bambi Medical

Thank you to everyone who joined the Belgian Symposium on NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) at UZ Brussels.

It was great to connect with physicians, nurses, and ventilation specialists dedicated to advancing respiratory support in neonatal and paediatric intensive care.

Bambi Medical was pleased to attend and be part of the discussions on improving patient-ventilator interaction and the use of NAVA in the NICU.
