There's a difference between being given something and actually receiving it.
We tend to treat receiving as passive, or worse, as owed to us. Something arrives, we take it, we move on. But in this episode, she describes it as something else entirely, something quieter and far more active in its own way: not a grabbing, not an effort, but an opening. A readiness that has to be built first, before the intensity, before the sound, before any of it can actually land and mean something.
She ties it back to how creation itself works. Nothing forces its way in. Something opens, chooses, and only then receives. It's such a simple image, but it reframes the whole idea of what it means to be ready for anything, a sound, an energy, a change in your life.
It made me think about how often we ask for more, more intensity, more depth, more meaning, without ever doing the quieter work of preparing the space to actually hold it. We want the bang of the gong without the step by step walk that makes us capable of loving it.
This is one of those moments in the conversation that's easy to miss on a first listen, but stays with you long after. Worth sitting with, and worth hearing in full context.
