Sometimes children aren't ignoring a parent because they don't respect them. Sometimes, they are simply responding to the relationship they have experienced.
When a child reaches out and repeatedly receives little attention, they may gradually stop reaching out. Later, when the parent wants their attention, the child may not respond in the same way.
This doesn't mean the parent is bad, and it doesn't mean the child is disrespectful. It means connection needs to be built through consistent attention, listening, and presence.
And teaching children to respect their father is important but respect becomes more natural when children also feel heard, valued, and connected to him.
Before asking, “Why don't my children listen to me?”
Ask, “How often have I truly listened to them?”
🌱 Connection before correction.
🧠 Children learn relationships through experience.
