Ilan Lev Method - The Hague

Ilan Lev Method - The Hague ILM improves body functionality, relieves pain, reduces tension & addresses joint issues. The method inspired me to dive into the world of somatic treatments.

Hello everyone, my name is Ady Elzam and I am a practitioner of the Ilan Lev Method. I've been practicing body awareness since 2006, when I discovered the Ilan Lev Method while working as a dancer in Israel. During a session, I aim to establish a connection with the patient's body using my somatic training background. Through gentle manipulations, we explore new pathways for the movement to pass through and establish new neural connections. Old injuries, emotional traumas, fear, and habitual movement patterns are rerouted and released. The body can explore infinite new ways of moving more efficiently, more easily, with a lot of joy and energy. In an ILM treatment, the patient's body is encouraged to release tension while being moved gently and with great care. We aim to find ways for the body to move efficiently, easily, with a lot of joy and energy. I have been working closely with Ilan Lev since 2010, after joining one of his first practitioner training cycles. As his assistant, I have given treatments all around Israel and have helped develop the method. If you're looking for a way to improve your body's functionality, overcome injuries, or relieve physical and emotional pain, the Ilan Lev Method may be the right choice for you. Join me on this journey of discovering your body's potential and unlocking its natural movement patterns.

What if working with the body didn’t have to be complicated?

No forcing. No fixing.
Just learning to listen, feel, and move with what’s already there.

Come explore it for yourself at our Bodywork Workshop — September 12.

When pain shows up, we tend to think we should stop moving.

Protect it.
Avoid it.
Keep everything still.

But what if we approached pain with curiosity instead?

Not forcing.
Not pushing through.
Not trying to “fix” it.

Just exploring.

Moving around the pain.
Moving towards it.
Sometimes moving through it.
Changing direction.
Trying something unexpected.

Almost like a joker.

With no particular agenda except to see what happens.

And then, sometimes, something surprising happens.

A movement you didn’t expect.
A pathway that suddenly opens.
A sensation that changes.
A place in the body that doesn’t feel quite so stuck anymore.

The body can be far more adaptable than we give it credit for.

And the solution to your pain may be much closer than you think.

Much simpler.
Much more accessible.
Already within your grasp.

Sometimes, you don’t need to fight the pain.

You just need to become curious enough to move differently.

When something hurts, the natural response is to protect it.

We tense.
We restrict.
We avoid certain movements.
We try to keep ourselves stable and safe.

And it makes sense. Your nervous system is trying to protect you.

But when protection becomes a habit, the body starts losing options.

The same movements get repeated.
Other movements disappear.
The body becomes more predictable, more restricted — and often, more painful.

Think of movement-ability over stability.

Not forcing movement.
Not pushing through pain.
Not trying to “fix” the body.

But becoming curious.

Exploring.
Feeling.
Moving in different ways.
Giving the body more possibilities.

Because a healthy body isn’t one that holds itself perfectly still.

It’s a body that has options.

And sometimes, what your body needs most is not more stability —

but permission to move again.

When the fear of pain becomes a fear of movement, the body starts to restrict itself.

We move less. We brace. We hold back.
And sometimes, that very restriction is what allows pain and tension to stick around far longer than they need to.

But what happens when you become curious instead?

Curious about your movement.
Curious about the pain.
Curious about what your body wants to do when you stop trying to control it.

When you allow your body to move freely and uninhibited, you create space for it to reorganize itself.

Tension can begin to dissipate.
Pain can soften.
Movement can become more effortless.

And slowly, you feel more at home in your body.

Because a freer, happier body creates a freer, happier experience of life. ✨

There is something beautiful about people coming together to learn through the body.

One person gives, one person receives, and somewhere in between, the body remembers how to soften, move and breathe a little easier.

Simple touch.
Small movements.
A shared practice you can take home.

Next Bodywork Workshop: Saturday 11 July in The Hague.

A room is never just a room.

It listens.
It holds the floor under our feet.
It has walls - a space for breath.
And our bodies can remember they are allowed to move.

So we meet the body again,
not as something to fix,
but as something alive, curious, and full of small surprises.

We come here to soften old patterns,
to play with weight and movement,
to listen through hands, bones, breath, and laughter.

And sometimes, while helping someone else find more space in their body,
we suddenly discover more space in our own.

This is what ADAMA is becoming:
a place to move,
to meet,
to lean,
to be leaned on,
and to remember that with the body we are never really alone ;)

Still feeling the warmth from our bodywork workshop at Adama – space to move.

12 people gathered in a small, intimate group — curious, open, and ready to explore what simple listening through touch can offer.

We leaned.
We moved.
We softened.
We discovered how small gestures can become deeply meaningful when they are done with attention.

The workshop is built around simple bodywork tools you can take home and share with someone close to you — a partner, friend, family member, or housemate.

Nothing complicated.
Nothing to perform.
Just movement, contact, curiosity, and attention.

And we’re happy to share it again:
