🌞 C-O-U-N-T-D-O-W-N 🌞
Just a few more weeks and in the Netherlands the summer holidays will start 🤯 Time flies!
We are preparing for the camping holidays by fixing some camping gear and buying some extra stuff where needed. We are very happy with new linnen towels, as they save up so much packing space compared to same-sized cotton towels and are sustainable and fast drying too!

The kids are finishing up school, doing exams and such. And we are planning our work in such a way, so we can leave it rest for a while.

How are you feeling about these last weeks before the summer vacation?

🌞A-F-T-E-L-L-E-N 🌞
Nog maar een paar weken en dan begint in Nederland de zomervakantie! 🤯 Tijd vliegt om! Wij bereiden ons nu al voor op onze kampeer vakantie door de spullen na te gaan. Repareren waar nodig en wat bij te kopen. Zo hebben we bijv. linnen handdoeken aangeschaft. Neemt zoveel minder ruimte in dan katoenen handdoeken, is duurzaam en droogt snel! Vijf handdoeken nemen letterlijk maar 1/4e van een shopper in!

De kinderen ronden school af: examens, schoolreisjes, musical enzo. En wij ronden ons werk zo af dat we het straks even met rust kunnen laten.

💓 B-E-I-N-G 💞

On this day that spring officially starts and we experience more daylight each day, we'd like to share this beautiful quote, because it resonates with what we stand for.

We find it important that you stay close to your precious self. There are so many things in this world that can distract you from being you and withhold you from finding your true self. But each of us holds a new and unique colour in this world. Life is to be lived to find your unique self to be uncovered and brought into the light. We are light carriers. Each of us in our own new way. No matter how much weight we might carry because of trauma, each person holds beautiful traits to share with this world.

We love to keep seeing this light. And also be this light. Zerah is a brand made of people that want to live this out. You want to join in being this lightcarrier?

Op deze dag dat de lente officieel begint en we elke dag meer daglicht mogen zien, willen we graag deze inspirerende quote delen, omdat dit raakt aan waar we voor staan.

We vinden het zo belangrijk dat je bij je mooie zelf blijft. Er zijn zoveel dingen in deze wereld die je kunnen afleiden om jezelf te zij of je weerhouden je ware zelf te vinden. Maar ieder van ons heeft een eigen unieke kleur te brengen in deze wereld. Het leven is ervoor om die unieke zelf te ontvouwen en het licht te laten zien. We zijn allemaal licht dragers. Ieder op zijn of haar eigen manier. Het maakt niet uit hoeveel trauma we ook met ons meedragen, elk persoon heeft mooie eigenschappen te delen met deze wereld.

We have a confession to make: we are not so into socials. You've probably noticed (or not:), as we post quite little. As a company that claims to be honest we thought this would be a good moment to share *why* we are not so into socials. What we love about social media is the community vibe (especially on Insta) and the honest sharing that we see more and more. It's still a lot about the good and perhaps 'perfect' picture, but we also discover more people sharing honest hardships and that is very beautiful. We're lucky to be in a relatively positive and open vibe, as this is what Zerah is all about and that is how the socials’ algorithm connects us with accounts that match our values and sustainabilty. But...that's where we also feel icky…

We don't like all that tracking and 'perfect matching'. We still find all the socials to be too privacy intrusive. They track too much. Every picture you post becomes their possession. We give them permission to have (almost full) access to our phones: our internet searches, location, contacts, and photo’s. And to serve whom? This is the biggest reason we have never made an advertisement via our socials. Why should our products - no matter how good and nice they are - be shoved into someone’s face? Based on ‘perfect matching’, but still not asked for. Of course we'd love for more people to get to know us, but we have a double feeling doing this via social media. We rather have personal contact with new shop owners for retail and have people telling others about us, than joining in the big advertisement world… it may not be the smartest choice, but it feels closer to who we are. And if we want others to be close to their own pure selves, then we should live this too. So we do 😊

🤲 G-I-V-E 🤲

So much for planning Insta posts and then not having time to share! 😅 But this quote is still so nice to share even though is over. Giving is something we can do every day, right? I really find it important how we give, with the right heart. Not as an act of duty, but out of abundance and with freedom. To do this, we should take care of ourselves first, so our own needs are met. This way giving won't break us up or empty us, but renew our hearts with love as the other receive what we give. Let this month be more about giving than gifts 💝.

Haha, Insta post plannen en dan geen tijd vinden het op de juiste tijd te posten! 😅 Maar deze quote is te mooi om te laten liggen ondanks dat al verleden tijd is. Geven is tenslotte iets wat we dagelijks kunnen doen, toch? Ik vind het heel belangrijk dat we stilstaan bij hoe we geven, met het juiste hart. Niet als plicht, maar vanuit overvloed en in vrijheid. Om dit te kunnen doen is het belangrijk dat we eerst voor onszelf zorgen, zodat onze eigen behoeftes zijn voorzien. Op deze manier zal geven ons niet opbreken en ons uitputten, maar onze harten vernieuwen met liefde terwijl de ander ontvangt wat wij geven. Laat deze maand om geven draaien en niet om de cadeaus 💝
