Jan Benham Cosmetics teaches and shows how to make your own organic, holistic and healthy skin, hair and body care products including makeup.

The Institute of Aromatherapy was established in 1986 by Jan Benham in Montreal, Canada to provide quality education and training in the field of Holistic Studies and Natural Skin Care. The Aroma Shoppe was created in 1996 to provide the ingredients necessary for the making of Aromatherapy products and natural cosmetics. We offer accredited courses worldwide in Aromatherapy, Holistic Skin Care and

Cosmetic Making with the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) which is the largest and leading professional association for complementary, beauty and sports therapists in the UK and Ireland. As well as aromatherapy, we offer a Diploma Course in how to make your own skin, hair and body care products, natural perfume, soap and mineral makeup (lipsticks, cosmetic pencils, mascara, foundations, eyeshadows and blushers). Our latest course is in how to make your own Pet Care products! For the 'Do-it-Yourself' enthusiast, the Aroma Shoppe offers cosmetic making books, and supplies the equipment and packaging needed to make cosmetics such as lipstick moulds and elegant lipstick tubes from 1 to 10,000. 🌙✨ THE GUARDIAN IN THE TREE ✨🌙
I stepped outside and was greeted by this beautiful blue-hour sky. The windmill glowed softly against the fading light, and everything was perfectly still.

Then I noticed the tree.

The silhouette seemed to take the shape of a warrior standing watch over our home. The more I looked, the more the figure appeared to emerge from the branches.

Many of you know of my interest in nature, aromatherapy, crystals, and ancient traditions. Inside my home are meaningful objects collected over a lifetime of study and travel—a crystal ball, crystals, a ceremonial pipe, and other treasures that remind me of the wisdom of the natural world.

Perhaps it is simply the play of light and shadow.

Or perhaps it is a gentle reminder that we are never truly alone, that there are forces of nature, spirit, and love surrounding us.

Whatever the explanation, this unexpected visitor brought me a feeling of peace, protection, and wonder.

🌹 Fresh from the garden today... 🌹

We have been gathering beautiful Apothecary Roses, carefully hand-picked and ready for tomorrow's distillation in our traditional copper still.

Tomorrow, these fragrant petals will be transformed into pure rose hydrosol — a precious botanical water loved for its soothing, refreshing, and skin-loving properties.
There is something truly special about capturing the essence of a rose in this traditional way. From flower to hydrosol, every step is carried out with care, patience, and respect for nature.
