🥳 HURRA – Bergen kommune øker tilskuddet til Statsraad Lehmkuhl med 1,5 millioner kroner i revidert budsjett! Pengene skal bidra til verkstedsoppholdet i høst, som er en del av et større vedlikeholdsprogram for skipet.
– «Statsraaden er Bergens store stolthet. Skipet er en viktig del av vår identitet og bykultur, og viser frem Bergen til hele verden. Derfor ønsker byrådet å bidra til at Statsraad Lehmkuhl kan gjennomføre nødvendige oppgraderinger og fortsette å seile i mange år fremover», sier sosialbyråd Charlotte Spurkeland.
Lehmkuhl-direktør Haakon Vatle er svært glad for støtten.
– «Dette betyr utrolig mye for oss. Vi vet at det er en krevende prosess for kommunen, og derfor setter vi ekstra stor pris på at Bergen kommune ser verdien av arbeidet vi gjør med å ta vare på skipet», sier Vatle.
Statsraad Lehmkuhl står foran flere kostbare verkstedsopphold og omfattende vedlikeholdsarbeid de kommende årene.
– «De neste fem årene er avgjørende for de neste 50 årene for Statsraad Lehmkuhl. Skal vi kunne holde skipet i drift og sikre at hun kan seile trygt på nye ekspedisjoner, er vi avhengige av et spleiselag mellom det offentlige og private», sier Vatle, som håper at kommunens tilskudd også vil motivere andre bidragsytere.
– «Nå stiller Bergen kommune opp. Nå er det viktig at også fylkeskommunen og staten kommer på banen», sier sosialbyråd Charlotte Spurkeland.

🥳 HURRAY – The City of Bergen is increasing its support for Statsraad Lehmkuhl by NOK 1.5 million in its revised budget! The funding will contribute to the ship’s yard stay this autumn, which is part of a larger long-term maintenance programme.
– “Statsraaden is Bergen’s pride and joy. The ship is an important part of our identity and cultural heritage, and showcases Bergen to the world. That is why the City Government wants to contribute to ensuring that Statsraad Lehmkuhl can carry out the necessary upgrades and continue sailing for many years to come,” says Charlotte Spurkeland, Bergen’s Commissioner for Social Services.
Statsraad Lehmkuhl Foundation Director Haakon Vatle is delighted by the support.
– “This means a tremendous amount to us. We know this has been a demanding process for the municipality, and we deeply appreciate that the City of Bergen recognises the value of the work we do to preserve and operate the ship,” says Vatle.
Statsraad Lehmkuhl faces several costly yard stays and extensive maintenance work in the years ahead.
– “The next five years are crucial for the next fifty years of Statsraad Lehmkuhl. To keep the ship in operation and ensure that she can continue to sail safely on future expeditions, we depend on a partnership between the public and private sectors,” says Vatle, who hopes the city’s contribution will also encourage other supporters to step forward.
– “The City of Bergen is now stepping up. It is important that both the County Council and the national government also come on board,” says Charlotte Spurkeland.
