📍 Patient Story | From Screening to Better Health 💙

A simple home visit by a Female Community Health Volunteer (FCHV) became an important turning point in Ganga Maya Gurung Budhathoki’s health journey.

During a community screening, her blood sugar level was found to be very high. She was referred to a health facility where the KHDC Project is supporting NCD screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care in coordination with the health facility. She was diagnosed with diabetes and started on treatment.

Today, she attends regular monthly follow-up visits, takes her medication as advised, and has seen significant improvement in her blood sugar levels.

Her story highlights how community-based screening, timely referral, treatment, and regular follow-up can help people manage non-communicable diseases and live healthier lives.

💙 Every screening is an opportunity to detect health problems early, prevent complications, and improve lives.

📍 FCHV Supportive Supervision | Asangpat & Dadhagaun, Phungling Municipality

As part of the ongoing KHDC Project activities, the Phungling field team of KHDC project phase II conducted supervision of Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) in Asangpat and Dadhagaun of ward no. 9, Phungling Municipality.

The supervision focused on strengthening FCHVs' skills in measuring blood pressure, waist circumference, monitoring blood glucose, identifying new and follow-up cases and using the KHDC Project FCHV Flipchart, a comprehensive health education tool designed to support community awareness and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)

FCHVs demonstrated confidence and competency in delivering these essential services, reinforcing their vital role in promoting NCD prevention, early detection, and community-based care.
