You’ve been thinking about natural building.

You’ve watched the reels.
Saved the posts.
Maybe even tried working with lime.

But perhaps you’re still wondering:

Where do I actually begin?

Build Naturally 2026 is for those who want to move from watching to doing.

Whether you want to build a natural home, learn to work confidently with lime, explore h**pcrete, or are an architect, engineer, builder or designer looking to step into natural building — this workshop is designed to give you a real hands-on start.

For 4 days, we’ll learn by working with the materials themselves:

- 2 days of h**pcrete wall making
- 2 days of lime plaster
- Practical techniques and material understanding
- Learning by doing, not just watching

And along the way, we’ll explore a bigger question:

How can we build homes that are healthier for people and kinder to the planet?

📍 Janakpur, Nepal
📅 22–25 November 2026
👥 Limited to 12–15 participants

If natural building has been calling you, perhaps this is where you begin.

Learn. Build. Experience.

A thought about how we build.

The more we work with natural building, the more we feel that this is not just about materials. It is about the relationship we have with the land we live on.

Nepal is a beautiful, fragile country. We live with earthquakes, floods and landslides. Yet we continue to build with materials that can cause enormous damage when they fail—and remain as waste in our landfills and rivers long after a building is gone.

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that stronger, harder and more permanent must always mean better.

Perhaps it doesn't. Perhaps it is time to look again at what is already around us—earth, lime, bamboo, h**p, stone, timber and natural fibres.

We don't have all the answers. We are still learning, experimenting and making mistakes. But we believe we have a responsibility to try.

To build with what nature gives us.
To leave less behind.
To learn from what our ancestors knew.
And to contribute, in our own small way, to a gentler way of building.

Maybe we don't need to build more. Maybe we need to build better.

For the land. For the people. And for those who come after us.

There's something different about building with your own hands.

Not watching. Not just learning theory. Actually mixing, placing, building — h**pcrete and lime plaster, the way people have built for generations, but with materials that heal the planet instead of harming it.

Something Natural is Coming...

For decades, our buildings have become stronger with cement—but not necessarily healthier for the people living inside them or for the planet.

What if we could build differently?

This November, SHIV is bringing together architects, engineers, builders, students, homeowners and everyone passionate about sustainable construction for a 4-day hands-on workshop on H**pcrete & Lime Plaster in Janakpur, Nepal.

This won't be a classroom lecture.

You'll mix the materials, build with your own hands, apply natural lime plasters, understand why these ancient materials are making a global comeback, and explore how natural building can create healthier, more comfortable and environmentally responsible spaces.

Whether you're designing homes, constructing buildings or simply curious about building naturally, we'd love to have you join us.

14 days. 3,500m. One heritage.

Just wrapped a 14-day natural lime plaster workshop at Upper Mustang, Kamero's 1st high altitude project— the full three-coat system, natural pigments from the mountains, and a few generations of knowledge passed forward.

From soil sedimentation testing to pigment trials with Artist, from Himalayan goat-hair fibre experiments to 1,935 kg of hydrated lime carefully mixed and cured — this was 14 days of hands-on learning, cracked-and-repaired walls, and a whole lot of patience with the Kali Gandaki wind.

Lime plaster is a rare, high-value skill in Nepal. As of today, Upper Mustang has 12 new artisans who carry it.

Grateful to every hand that mixed, cured, and burnished with us.
