⚡ What to Do When You Are Outside During a Thunderstorm
✅ DO
When lightning is seen in the sky, stay alert. If there is any nearby building or shelter, go inside.
Keep your feet together and crouch low if no safe shelter is available. Cover your ears and make your body as small as possible.
If you are in a group, spread out and maintain distance from one another to reduce the risk of multiple people being injured at once.
If you are in an open area or forest, move to the safest possible location or take shelter in a low-lying area.
❌ DON’T
Do not use or stay near mobile phones or towers during a thunderstorm.
Do not use an umbrella. If you are working in a field, stop working.
Do not enter or remain in rivers, ponds, or swimming pools. Do not fish or go boating.
Do not stay near electrical poles, isolated buildings, or large/isolated trees.
If you are riding a bicycle or motorcycle, stop immediately and get off. Do not touch or carry any metal objects, vehicles, or equipment.
