With the projected spread of Omicron, I will temporarily be closing my home-based clinic, with next week (starting 31st January) being my last week seeing clients in Riverhead.

I have closed online bookings but please call me directly on 0210400395 if you would like to book an appointment for next week. I will advise about reopening once the situation becomes clearer.

Please note that my clinic in Greenlane (Greenlane Osteopathy https://www.greenlaneosteopathy.co.nz/) will remain open with continuing stringent prevention and hygiene protocols in place.

Welcome back from your summer break.

From people I have seen in clinic over the past week, it would appear that there has been a lot of activity involving bikes this summer. Fun, exciting and a great way to stay fit … when you stay on the bike.

When you don’t, we’re here to help.

Really glad to be welcoming everyone back!

From tomorrow morning New Zealand moves into the traffic light framework 🚦 . Greenlane Osteopathy along with the rest of Auckland will enter the system at "Red". What treatment in clinic looks like, will remain much the same (ME: mask, visor, gown, in-clinic infection control/cleaning: YOU: screening, mask, sanitising on entry). However, routine care is now available (rather than having to meet urgent care criteria to book an appointment).
Moving toward the end of the year, fewer appointments will be available due to 15mins beaks being needed between each patient to facilitate cleaning and airing of the room, so please book ahead if you think you will need it.
From next week…
• I will be moving to weekly surveillance testing (on Saturday mornings with a result usually available Sunday evening/early Monday morning).
• Stringent screening, infection-control and cleaning practice used at higher alert levels, will continue.
• I require patients to wear a surgical rather than cloth mask as there is evidence to show that these are better at filtering virus particles than cloth masks (https://www.cnbc.com/.../are-cloth-masks-effective-for...) = better protection for us all 👍. Please bring your own if you have one, or I am able to provide one for $1.

Sorry for the silence of the last weeks but practicing guidelines have been evolving 🤨. In response, I have been working hard to develop processes to provide a safe treatment environment for those that need care.

The Ministry of Health has provided the following criteria in determining eligibility for treatment under the current Alert Level 3.2:

1) delaying treatment will place you at risk of significant harm or permanent and/or significant disability-I imagine, you are probably not going to be contacting your local osteopath in such situations
2) delaying treatment will lead to a deterioration of a known condition. This may be those conditions that have continued to worsen over lockdown despite telehealth consults and your best efforts with pain medication, exercises and stretches
3) delaying treatment will impact your ability to maintain functional independence and have a significant negative impact on your quality of life. This would include your ability to continue to care for dependents. Situation like this may include neck and back spasms which even after heat, ice, and anti-inflammatories make it hard to move, or unabating headaches, etc. that impact your ability to manage day-to-day activities

I have closed online bookings till the end of November to facilitate screening before any bookings are made. If you are currently unable to manage your condition with pain medication, stretches and exercise and are not receiving care from another health practitioner for the same issue, feel free to contact us to discuss treatment options via FB, or email [email protected]. If you are immunocompromised or part of a vulnerable group, face-to-face consultation may not be appropriate at this time but again, feel free to contact us to discuss options (telehealth consult, self-management strategies, etc.).

PS: N95 masks and visors are trending right now with osteo-fashionistas!

** LEVEL 4 **

In line with government directives, Head to Toe Osteopathy cannot offer face-to-face consultations until Auckland moves to alert level 2. I will contact those affected by the recent lockdown to reschedule once we know when Auckland will move alert levels.
For those in dire straights while we are at alert level 3 and 4, please contact me via email ([email protected]) or on 0210400395 if you need any self-management advice. We can schedule a Telehealth consultation to address your issues.
In the interim, take care and I look forward to being able to provide hands-on health support once back at alert level 2.

Under the "Categories" drop-down menu:

"Injury prevention" covers topics such as:
* Safety at home: home safety checklist, ladder safety
