today marks 5 years since i was officially offered my tattoo apprenticeship. the last five years of my life have been an absolute whirlwind, from working outdoors as a horse trekking guide in queenstown, to a brief stint back behind the chair in a hair salon, to finally ending up back in the studio with my true passion of tattooing. it’s been a wild ride, and i absolutely love my job. i am so grateful and so privileged to be in the position i am where i get to make art for a living. from wellington, to alexandra, all the way down to invercargill, i have so many incredible artists and clients that i will never have enough words to express my gratitude for. thank you all so much.
to the man who took a chance on the little 21 year old who walked into his shop with a couple of paintings and a dream, Sid from Visualize, i will always be so grateful to you for giving me the chance to step into this incredible profession. 🖤
and of course, to Nicola Oldenhof - Tattoo, thank you so much for welcoming me into Alleycat Tattoo . i feel so privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside you, i absolutely adore our space. you’re not only an incredibly talented, hardworking artist, you’re a pretty bloody cool human too. also, i promise not to break any more bones 😂
thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has helped me get where i am today, here’s to the next five years 🫶
