PROFESSOR TONY MERRIMAN

Professor Tony Merriman is a leading health researcher and genetic epidemiologist based in Aotearoa. As kaitiaki for Yauola Health Research, he helps ensure our research is guided by care, respect, and accountability to our Cook Islands communities. His role supports ethical use of data, protection of samples, and research that truly benefits our people.

Meet our Kaitiaki 🌺 MANU SIONE

Manu is of Māori (Ngāti Whātua, Te Taou, Te Uri o Hau), Samoan and Cook Island (Pukapuka) descent. He is a respected Cook Islands leader and advocate for community wellbeing. As kaitiaki for Yauola Health Research, he helps guide the study with integrity, cultural responsibility, and care for our people. His role ensures our communities remain at the heart of decision-making, protecting our data, samples, and future generations.
