Kia ora whānau,

Hine Health Foundation is looking for a talented Māori artist to help us co-create our beautiful Pouwahine — the heart of our new Hine Health App, launching this Matariki.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a kaupapa grounded in hauora Māori, mana wāhine, whakapapa, and wellbeing. We are seeking an artist who can help bring our vision to life.

If you're interested, or know someone who might be, we'd love to hear from you.

🌿 He mihi aroha ki a Associate Professor Jade Le Grice.

He uri o Ngāpuhi me Te Rarawa. Researcher, psychologist, academic leader — and someone whose life's work on Indigenous sexual and reproductive justice showed up in our wānanga, with the gifted tote bags for all our Hine.

He Tapu Ahau. 💚

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe e hoa, mō ō mahi whakahirahira.

Happy Mother’s Day 🌸
To all the incredible māmā, kuia, aunties, sisters and wāhine who nurture, guide and hold our whānau together with aroha every single day. 🤍

We also send our love and thoughts to those spending today missing their mothers. ###

What if I told you there will never be enough doctors — and Māori wāhine will continue to get the short end of the stick.

The truth is, the system was never built with us at the centre.

And I refuse to be a doctor working inside a broken system without trying to create something better.

That is why my focus is now Hine Health.

A safe space for wāhine Māori to come together, wānanga, heal, learn about our bodies, reconnect to our mātauranga, and find our own solutions to keeping ourselves and our whānau healthy — with the assistance of specialist care, medical knowledge, and culturally safe support.

This is not just about medicine. This is about prevention. This is about knowledge. This is about mana motuhake.

Mai wahine mo wahine na wahine

Because nobody understands our stories, our struggles, our strength, and our whakapapa the way we do.

Hine Health is only the beginning. 🌿

Just Rose Harris.

Kia ora tātou katoa,

Mai Health is proud to be supporting the Hine Health initiative, offering five wāhine the opportunity to receive Wegovy over a 12-month period.

If you attended the Hine Health hui at Tauteihiihi marae on Saturday 2nd of May and are interested, simply text your name and the words “Hine Health” to 8700, and we’ll guide you through a process to determine whether this programme is suitable for you.

Wegovy (semaglutide) is generally safe for most people. However, it is not suitable if you are pregnant, have significant kidney problems, a history of acute pancreatitis, or an allergy to semaglutide. We’re very happy to discuss this with you as part of the assessment process.

If more than five women express interest, participants will be selected by random draw, and the successful wāhine will be announced.

All participants will receive support throughout the 12 months, including guidance on lifestyle changes to help optimise weight loss and overall wellbeing.

We’re really excited to be part of this kaupapa and to support the health and wellbeing of our wāhine.

Ngā mihi nui.
