Perimenopause and menopause don’t just change hormones.
They change the biology of the skin itself.
As estrogen declines, the skin produces less collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and oil naturally. The skin barrier weakens, hydration drops, inflammation increases, and the skin becomes thinner and less resilient over time.
This is why so many women suddenly notice:
-dryness
-dullness
-crepey texture
-sensitivity
-pigmentation
-redness
-loss of firmness
-makeup not sitting the same anymore
Research shows women can lose up to 30% of their collagen within the first 5 years after menopause, with continued collagen decline occurring yearly thereafter.
Which is why I focus so heavily on skin quality first.
Hydration. Barrier support. Collagen stimulation. Skin health.
Because healthy skin behaves differently ✨

“Perimenopause changed my skin overnight”… except it actually didn’t happen overnight 👀
As estrogen declines, our skin produces less collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. The result?
Dryness. Crepey skin. Fine lines. Dullness. Sensitivity. Loss of firmness.
We can lose up to 30% of our collagen in the first 5 years of menopause alone.
This is why I focus on skin quality first.
Not just “looking younger” but rebuilding hydration, supporting the skin barrier, and stimulating collagen where the skin actually needs it.
Skin boosters can help restore hydration from within so the skin functions healthier, stronger, and more resilient again.
Because healthy skin ages differently.

Melasma & Olive Skin⚡️
Olive skin contains more reactive melanocytes, meaning the skin can produce pigment very easily when inflamed. This is why treatments that are too harsh can sometimes make melasma appear darker instead of improving it.
In clinic, treatment is rarely about one quick fix. It usually requires a long term approach focused on reducing inflammation, protecting the skin barrier, minimising triggers, and choosing treatments carefully.
For many patients, consistency is more important than intensity.
Daily SPF, pigment appropriate skincare, heat awareness, and carefully selected in clinic treatments all contribute to improving and maintaining results over time.
Melasma is manageable, but it requires patience, consistency, and an approach tailored to your skin type.

Soft support. Structural refresh. Skin quality still respected.
This result was achieved using the fern technique trained by .van.eijk , a dermal filler approach designed to soften etched lines and support the skin without creating heaviness or an overfilled appearance.
The technique uses tiny delicate threads of filler placed in a branching “fern-like” pattern through the dermis and superficial tissue. Rather than simply filling one deep crease, it creates a soft scaffold of support through the surrounding skin to help reduce folding and improve overall integration and texture.
This approach works particularly well for etched smile lines, lower face creasing, and mature or fragile skin where a softer more natural result is the priority.
The goal isn’t to erase expression. It’s to restore support where the skin has gradually lost structure over time while still looking like you.

Things I’ll never say in clinic
Because good aesthetic work isn’t about trends, quick fixes, or doing more for the sake of it
It’s about understanding your anatomy, respecting your natural features, and having a clear plan instead of reacting to one concern at a time
I’ll always be honest with you
Even if that means saying no, spacing treatments, or focusing on your skin first
That’s how we get results that last and still look like you

❓Melasma- what is it? ⬇️
Melasma is one of the most common pigment concerns I see in clinic.
A lot of people think it’s just sun damage, but melasma is more complex than that. sunlight plays a role, but melasma is also influenced by heat, hormones and inflammation in the skin.
That’s why it behaves differently from sun spots.
Sun spots are usually more predictable and tend to sit closer to the surface of the skin.
Melasma pigment can sit deeper and the pigment cells are often more reactive, which is why it can come and go or worsen over time.So treating melasma isn’t about one cream or one laser, we approach it in stages.
First is strict sun protection, ideally with a zinc-based sunscreen to protect from UV and visible light.
Second is reducing inflammation in the skin, because inflammation can stimulate pigment cells.
Third is using ingredients called tyrosinase inhibitors.
Tyrosinase is the enzyme that helps produce melanin, the pigment in our skin, and these ingredients help slow that process down.
Then once the skin is more stable, we can introduce treatments like MOXI, which helps the skin renew itself and gradually improve existing pigment.
Melasma treatment is really a combination approach and more about long term management than a quick fix.

It’s LASER season⚡️⚡️If you are unsure of how to or what to book for- here is a quick breakdown.
BBL treats the pigment you can see.
MOXI treats the skin that holds the pigment.
If your concern is sun spots, redness or acne, book BBL.
If your skin feels dull, uneven, or you want better skin overall, book MOXI. It still helps with pigment, just in a different way.
If you’ve got melasma or stubborn pigment that keeps coming back, I’ll usually lean more towards MOXI.
If you want the best overall result, clearer, smoother, brighter skin, then book BBL and MOXI together.
Save this before booking or message me if you’re not sure and I’ll guide you.

This is something I talk about a lot in consults.
When people come in worried about under eyes,
it’s not always just the under eye itself.
A lot of the time, it’s this transition area here
between the lower lid and the cheek.
As we lose volume through this area,
you start to see shadowing, hollowness, and a heavier look under the eyes.
So instead of just treating the tear trough directly,
we often look at supporting the cheek and this junction first.
That’s what softens the transition
and reduces the shadowing.
You’ll also notice a bit of swelling here —
this is normal early on and settles as everything integrates.
It’s not about adding volume everywhere.
It’s about placing it where it actually makes sense.

Everyone wants quick results.
But often aesthetic treatments don’t work like that and acne scarring is no different.
Real improvement is often subtle and builds over time because what we’re actually doing is stimulating collagen
and improving the structure of the skin and that takes time.
This result is from a combination approach
working on texture, depth, and overall skin quality.
