We’re excited to introduce you to another of the lovely pink ladies behind the smiles at Donna Lim Orthodontics!
 
Born in Auckland, Trinity is the eldest of three, with two younger brothers. When she was five, her family moved to Australia, before eventually returning home to New Zealand, where she completed high school. Her favourite subjects were science and history - a combination that reflects her curious nature and love of learning.
 
With a strong interest in oral health, Trinity went on to graduate from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Oral Health. She began her career with the District Health Board, caring for the dental and hygiene needs of primary school children and teenagers.

Trinity has a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and at ease. Her genuine, approachable nature has always helped her connect with people from all walks of life. While studying, she also worked part-time in hospitality, where her love of people and friendly personality were very much at home.
 
Outside the clinic, you’ll find Trinity enjoying Pilates, going for walks, getting lost in a good book or listening to her favourite music. She also has a love of travel and exploring new places, with Japan and Rarotonga already ticked off her list. Recently engaged, she’s looking forward to exploring more of the world as she holidays with her fiancé.
 
One of Trinity’s favourite parts of orthodontics is reaching the end of treatment and seeing a patient’s transformation - especially that moment when the braces or aligner attachments come off and they see their happy, confident smile for the first time.
 
We feel very lucky to have Trinity’s beautiful smile, caring nature and passion for creating confident smiles as part of our team.
 
And, of course, her favourite colour is pink… so it seems she was always destined to be one of our pink ladies! 💗

In their mid-30s, this patient came to see specialist orthodontist Dr Donna Lim wanting to improve their smile and address several concerns they had noticed over the years. Multiple upper front teeth were sitting in crossbite with the lower teeth, while the dental midline was also noticeably off-centre.

While they were keen to achieve a straighter, more balanced smile, they also wanted a treatment option that would fit seamlessly into their busy lifestyle. Discreet and comfortable,clear aligners were the perfect choice.

With careful planning and a personalised treatment approach, Dr Lim was able to gradually move the teeth into a healthier and more harmonious position, correcting the crossbite, improving the alignment, and bringing the midline into better balance.

Front Desk Team Lead Mary Chapman is passionate about people. With her career spanning corporate, community, health and fitness, media and education, Mary brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. But it’s her genuine love of connecting with people that really sets her apart.

Throughout her career, Mary has held PA and Executive Assistant roles, team leadership positions, and customer service, office and administration management roles. These experiences have shaped her strong organisational skills, problem-solving ability and, most importantly, her understanding of what it means to create a positive experience for others.

Mary believes front desk excellence is about so much more than answering phones and booking appointments. It’s about creating positive experiences, building trust and making people feel welcome from their very first interaction. She sees the Front Desk as the heart of communication and takes pride in making every patient and family feel valued and cared for.

Originally from Christchurch, Mary is the eldest of seven children. Her dad liked to joke that he was trying to create his own netball team - although the youngest turned out to be a boy! Naturally social, Mary loves talking, listening, helping others and finding solutions. She brings warmth, energy, and a genuine desire to make a difference to everything she does.

Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with family and friends, beach walks, cooking and sharing good food. She’s also an avid reader, enjoys tending to her plants and is always keen to learn something new. Her latest passion? Salsa!

As Donna Lim Orthodontics continues to grow, we are pleased to welcome Dr Will Sew Hoy, who will be joining us one day a week to support the ongoing care of Donna’s patients.
 
Will hails from Dunedin - a sunny, tropical metropolis located in the deep south, which is where he completed both his dental and orthodontic degrees.
 
Will has been practising as an orthodontist for over eight years. He has worked in private practices in Melbourne, Wellington and now Auckland.
 
He takes pride in delivering high quality, evidence-based orthodontic treatment tailored to each one of his patients. His favourite part of the job is getting to know his patients. Will acts as a peer reviewer for the European Journal of Orthodontics, which is one of the ways that helps him to stay up to date with the latest orthodontic research.
 
Outside of work, Will enjoys anything and everything related to sport. Weekends are often spent watching live sport - predominantly athletics, rugby, cricket, formula one, tennis and cycling. He loves to keep fit via running, mountain biking and hitting the gym. Will is also a sucker for a good coffee, so you may see him out and about exploring as many cafes as possible!
 
Will is excited to meet Donna’s patients and to continue their exemplary orthodontic care. Please give him a cheery welcome when you see him in clinic.

Have you noticed that one or more of your child’s front teeth bite behind the lower teeth? This may be an anterior crossbite.

An anterior crossbite can happen when the upper front teeth sit behind the lower front teeth when biting together. It’s often best to have this assessed early, as correcting the bite while a child is still growing can be simpler and help support healthy jaw and tooth development. ✨

👀 Signs to look out for:
• One or more upper front teeth sitting behind the lower teeth
• A lower jaw that appears to shift forward when biting
• Uneven tooth wear
• Difficulty biting into certain foods

The good news? Early treatment can often be straightforward and effective. Depending on the cause and the child’s stage of development, treatment may involve a simple orthodontic appliance or other corrective approach.

If you’re unsure whether your child has an anterior crossbite, an orthodontic assessment can help determine whether treatment is needed — and when the best time to start might be.
