This is 5 months healed, after just ONE session.

My client travels for work, so we can only continue her treatment when she’s back in New Zealand. But these results speak for themselves.

Her natural lip is the kind of canvas artists dream of working on. The underlying tones are already beautifully balanced, which makes it easier to select a pigment that complements her natural colouring rather than fighting against it.

But an easy canvas doesn’t mean colour choice becomes any less important.

Understanding your client’s natural lip colour, undertone and how your chosen pigment will heal is what allows you to create results that look harmonious with the person, not just beautiful immediately after treatment.

The goal isn’t to give everyone the same pink. It’s to understand the canvas in front of you and know how to work with it.

And this is why I’ll always say that colour theory is just as important as your technique.

The pigment is only part of the equation.

There’s something about doing a woman’s brows when she’s stepping into a new season of her life. Not changing who she is. Just giving her that little bit of confidence to walk into the room feeling like herself.

My canvas is living and breathing.

When I tell people I’m a cosmetic tattooist, the response is often, “Ohh, you do brows and lips.”

And essentially, yes.

But what I do is so much more than that.

It’s art.
It’s technique.
It’s colour theory.
It’s understanding how pigment will move, heal and settle into living skin.

Every canvas is different. It moves, changes, heals and responds to the environment around it.

And the goal?

To create something that looks like it was always there.

Not tattooed on.
Not painted on.

Just beautifully, naturally part of the person.

The hardest part of business is giving myself permission to not be available.

For me, social media is a huge part of my business. My portfolio lives here, my work gets discovered here, and a lot of the connection I’ve built with clients and other artists happens here. So I know that if I disappear completely, things slow down. The algorithm doesn’t keep pushing my work out in the same way, people see less of what I’m doing and I’m not staying in front of the people who might otherwise come across my work. And knowing that makes it really hard to just switch off.

Because I’ve spent years building something that means so much to me. My work, my reputation, my community, the people who follow along and the artists who learn from what I share. It’s not easy to just switch that part of my brain off when I’m so used to always thinking about what I should be doing next.

I am able to step back without completely disappearing. I can schedule my content, keep showing up and let the business continue ticking along while I’m away. So really, the business can be automated; it’s my brain that’s the problem.

But I’m realising that constantly being available isn’t the same thing as being committed to my business. I can care deeply about what I’ve built and still step away from it. I can keep showing up online without feeling like I have to be available behind the screen.

So while I’m away, I’m giving myself permission to not respond. I’m letting the messages sit, I’m letting the business breathe and I’m actually enjoying being away.

Not because my business doesn’t matter.

Because it does. And so do I.
