This week marks another significant milestone for Flawless Motion Ltd. Our shoulder braces are now registered in EUDAMED, allowing supply throughout the European Union under the Medical Device Regulation (MDR).

What started as a clinical problem in practice has evolved into a shoulder bracing solution now available to clinicians and athletes across Europe. Building a medical device company has involved far more regulatory, quality and technical documentation than I ever imagined. It’s a far cry from the clinical and academic skills I have developed over the years, but a fascinating journey all the same. Thank you to everyone who has supported the journey.

As we begin this next chapter, we're looking for 10 European clinicians to become our first European Clinical Evaluation Partners.

We're particularly interested in connecting with clinicians working in:

🏉 Rugby / Gaelic Football / Hurling
🤾 Handball
🏐 Volleyball
🥋 Combat sports
🏃 Overhead and contact athletes

Athletes need control under load as their shoulder and arm decelerates
And shoulder braces need to reflect that

Many athletes demonstrate good shoulder control during slow predictable rehabilitation exercises.
But sport is different
Sport involves:
-speed
-contact
-rapid deceleration
-unpredictable movement
-and reactive control under load
That’s often when instability appears
Not necessarily because the athlete lacks strength- but because controlling movement at speed is a very different challenge
That’s why rehab needs to reflect sporting demand.
And why external bracing also needs to function effectively:
- under speed
- under fatigue
- and in chaotic sporting environments

Most instability episodes don’t occur:
• at the start of training
• during controlled rehab
• or under ideal conditions

They occur:
• under fatigue
• under speed
• under unpredictability

Fatigue changes control strategies.

And that matters in shoulder instability.

What do you need from a shoulder brace?
Compression, rigid blocks or progressive deceleration to high risk positions.
Remember anterior shoulder@instability typically occurs in abduction + external rotation, while posterior instability is more likely in flexion + internal rotation.

Hard Stop or Progressive Deceleration ?
Many restrains allow free movement…. Until they don’t.
That creates an abrupt end-range stop
In contrast, progressive restraint;
-increases resistance through range
-allows graded deceleration
Better matches how athletes move
Control is rarely binary in sport

But instability is directional
And that matters even more in female athletes, where multidirectional instability often has a predominant direction of instability
