Senses of May

Taste – I was surrounded by tomatoes in Andalusia so, gazpacho or tomato, peach and burrata bruschetta. Probably the latter 🤤

Sound – Women’s laughter! If you have been in my classes over this last month then thank you for your joy. Seems like the lighter months have come with lighter moods ☀️

Sight – The turquoise waters of La Isleta del Moro. It’s like time slowed down there.

Smell – Salt air, but also the mix of hot sun and breeze carried over the river of my little village, it’s so unique to lazy summer days and nostalgic.

Touch – I’m carrying this over from April because I’ve been too lazy to keep this little tradition going… Warm hugs from some special Antipodean friends. Seeing you again filled my cup ❤️ .mullins

One of the things we love most about practicing in a group environment is the ripple effect that goes far beyond the physical practice itself.

We all know the scenario, You arrive to class feeling a little flat (life is happening outside the studio). Energy can be low, same with your confidence and possibly your head is elsewhere.

Then your teacher has the audacity to keep adding layer upon layer until suddenly you find yourself doing something that, if you’d been asked at the start of class you never would have attempted!

YOU doubted yourself, your teacher didn’t ☺️

There’s something incredibly powerful about being seen as capable before you can see it yourself.

And around you are the same people you move with each week, Encouraging each other, Laughing through frustrations, Sharing hard moments wins.

Then the class finishes and you walk out thinking, “Oh my God… I just moved in a way I never thought I could.”

Beyond fear, doubt and a story of yourself that no longer serves you.

There’s so much power to this.

A happy little collection of photos in celebration of David Attenborough’s 100th birthday 💙

The trajectory of my life has been so heavily influenced by David Attenborough, from a small child fixed to his documentaries, to a woman who was immediately ready to spread her wings and explore our planet.

More than a decade spent working as a diving instructor, salty and free, forging lifelong friendships and passionately advocating for the oceans… I sometimes wonder whether any of it would have unfolded quite the same way without his gentle influence somewhere in the background.

I feel a little emotionally bent out of shape, tired and frayed around the edges whilst content and so grateful for an abundance of love this month.
