The always delicious acai bowl 👌🏻
Antioxidants have such a profound effect on your body by protecting against oxidative stress, which is caused by the body having to many free radicles. Free radicles are produced naturally as the body generates energy, whether that's performing everyday functions or exercising. Consuming food which contain antioxidants supports the health of your cells in your body and brain by protecting against cell DNA and structure mutation, and protecting against conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, cancer and premature ageing which are linked to cellular damage and mutation. Berries are a high source of antioxidants, with Acai being top of the list! ⭐️ plus it's loaded with vitamin C to support the adrenal glands and your bodies response to stress!

What direction is the road you are on leading you towards? Try and envision it. If you like it, great, if you don't, what can you do about it to turn the corner and head somewhere else?
When you drive a car it's much like how you navigate through life - you go too fast and accidents happen and you don't notice what is passing you by, but take it a bit slower and be mindful of your surroundings and it's a different experience. You notice things, you can be more aware. When there are loads of cars around you making silly moves or just crowding your road space and slowing you down, this can make you feel frustrated, anxious or cause an accident - much like when there are people blocking your space and development in life or making decisions which you may cause you physical or mental stress in that moment. But taking a step back by moving a little slower, being mindful and choosing how you show up on the road can make all the difference, as well as how you choose to respond.

Nutrition is an important intervention for reducing inflammation within your body and restoring health in your digestive tract, improving the nature of the messages transported from the gut via the vegus nerve to your brain. Reducing foods sugar, gluten, processed and refined carbohydrates as well as pesticides and chemicals contained within foods while favoring a whole and unprocessed diet, potentially also with the use of probiotics and fermented food, can influence and support postive change within your body.

Sometimes a plate of RAW is exactly what you need to refresh, energise and lift you up. Fruits and vegetables are cleansing and raw food is full of natural enzymes occurring in the foods, as they haven't yet been broken down by heat during cooking. This gives support to the digestive system, making it easier to digest your meal and doesn't demand as much energy to be utilised the digestion process, so you don't experience that tiredness after you eat. Eating whole, unprocessed, raw, plant based meals every now and then (if not more!) can do such wonders for your body and vitality, cleaning and building internally. And no one does it better than 💓🙏🏻 🍃

Mental Health is such an important aspect of overall health. While different forms of psychologists and counselors do amazing work in helping people to overcome and manage conditions such as depression, anxiety and mood instability, it is also important to recognize the role that nutrition plays. Although it is not generally thought to see a nutritionist in order to improve state of mind, this step could provide big improvements and support for mental health management for some by addressing nutrient deficiencies and specific food constituents or allergies which may be influencing their state of mental health.
I will be speaking at a workshop in April about the role of nutrition and lifestyle in supporting mental health - more details to come soon!

Lunch is such an important meal of the day. Did you know that anxiety can be caused by something as simple as low blood sugar levels? Keeping your blood sugar level stable is also important for maintaining stable energy levels throughout the day as well weight management. These days as we live such busy lifestyles it is important to refuel with foods which nourish and provide energy which is slow released and sustaining - especially important for preventing those afternoon energy and mental clarity dips. It's also important to take the time to eat your meal with attention directed towards it. This gives you a moment to stop and rest, but also supports proper digestion and awareness that you are taking the time to look after yourself. It allows you to register that you are eating, preventing overeating. What you eat matters - Take the time to prepare something with a good source of protein, healthy fat and complex carbohydrate (ratio appropriate to your metabolic needs) to keep you balanced ### - Today I have done mushrooms, baby spinach, avocado, hummus, bree, fresh coriander and lime juice on a homemade bread (with the foundations of almond meal, coconut four and grated courgette) 💙🙏🏻🍃 Mind-body-soul ✨
