EMOTIONS- FOOD FOR THE SOUL
When I was growing up, many of my emotions were suppressed — buried deep inside, waiting quietly to be acknowledged.
The only emotion I remember clearly was a faint, unconscious longing… a longing to belong.
In my late teenage years, a deep sadness began to express itself through poetry and playing the piano — my soul companions during those times. They became the places where my inner world could breathe.
It was only later, in my early twenties, when I began acting school, that I discovered just how much emotion lived inside me, waiting to be given space and a voice.
Anger.
Despair.
Rage.
Fear.
Fury.
Grief.
Guilt .
I didn’t understand it at the time, but being able to express these emotions through the characters I played was a deeply healing and life-giving experience. The stage became a place where parts of myself that had been hidden could finally move, speak, and be witnessed.
For many years, some of these intense emotions also appeared in my relationships. They became my teachers, showing me that I needed to learn how to meet them, understand them, and transform my relationship with them.
This is what eventually led me into the healing arts.
Today, at the age of 63, I feel my emotional journey has entered a different season — like a slowly moving river. 🌊
I can feel emotions arise within me, but I no longer need to be attached to them or act upon them.
I breathe with them.
I smile to them .
I listen to them.
I give them the validation they have always been seeking.
And slowly, they begin to dissolve… returning to what they truly are:
Energy in motion.
Perhaps this is the essence of emotional balance — not removing emotions, but learning to flow with them.
In Qigong and the wisdom of the Five Elements, we remember that all of nature moves in cycles. Nothing stays the same. The river keeps flowing. The seasons keep turning.
It feels like coming full circle.
And I wonder… what will the next emotional cycle reveal?
What will it feel like to meet the next river of life with even more presence, compassion, and trust? 💧✨
