Papakura Whānau Hauora say it better than we ever could.

We didn't build ISpy Nits to sell more treatment.

We built it because the check itself was the problem, something everyone dreaded and nobody kept up with, so we tried to redesign the check, not just hand people another bottle.

Working alongside Tamariki Crown Care and Papakura Whānau Hauora these past many months has meant listening first, then figuring out how a whānau-led approach and a detection-led one actually sit together. This is what that's looked like so far.

Buying from a small NZ business does more than you’d think.

This week I had a proper sit-down chat with Kate from Moodi , as a finalist for their Female Founder Fund. No pitch, just two founders talking. She listened, gave me space, and offered advice when I asked.

Here’s the thing though. When you buy Moodi, you’re helping fund grants for founders like me. But Kate also gave her own time, no grant required, just because she’s been there and wanted to help someone coming up behind her. So really, backing Moodi means backing a whole chain of us lifting each other up 🌱

We have some news.

Kate Ricketts, the founder behind ISpy Nits, has been named a People's Choice finalist for the Moodi Female Founder Fund 2026 and voting is now open.

Kate built ISpy Nits on a simple belief: you can't treat what you can't see. And that nits don't discriminate. They affect every family, regardless of background. Science not stigma.

We are grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey, including our wonderful pharmacies and the Lice Removal Network in the United States, who have opened the door to a whole new market for us and believed in what we are building.
