Physiotherapist Contractor Opportunity
Build Your Caseload Within an Established Specialist Clinic

Rope Neuro Rehabilitation is looking for an experienced physiotherapist to join our Auckland clinic as an independent contractor.
This is an opportunity to develop and grow a musculoskeletal physiotherapy caseload as part of Rope Neuro Rehabilitation, without the cost and responsibility of establishing and managing a clinic independently.
The contractor will provide services under the Rope Neuro Rehabilitation name and use our clinic systems, reception, booking and payment processes. Remuneration will be based on an agreed percentage of the revenue generated from the contractor’s clinical work.
You will have autonomy over your clinical practice and availability while benefiting from an established clinic, strong local visibility, existing referral relationships and regular opportunities for internal referrals.

Hello,
I’m writing to invite expressions of interest from individuals diagnosed with cervical dystonia who may be willing to participate as volunteer patient models for an upcoming specialist physiotherapy training workshop. This is a rare opportunity to support clinician education in a complex and often under-recognised condition.

We are welcoming internationally recognised Swedish physiotherapist Johanna Blom to Aotearoa New Zealand. Johanna is a leading educator in the management of dystonia and spasticity. She works in the Department of Neurology at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, Sweden, and is the author of Muscle Imbalance: Cervical Dystonia and Spasticity. She also developed the Dystonia Physio Exercise Hub, now used by over 675 clinicians in 31 countries.

Johanna will lead a two-day professional development course for physiotherapists and Occupational therapists focused exclusively on cervical dystonia:

Dates: Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd May 2026
Location: Rope Neuro Rehabilitation, 562a Richmond Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland
Time commitment: Approximately 120 minutes on either day
We are looking for individuals with a confirmed diagnosis of cervical dystonia who would feel comfortable being observed in a teaching setting:
1–2 people for Day 1 (Saturday): Observation and demonstration by Johanna during a live teaching session
Up to 4 people for Day 2 (Sunday): Guided small group assessment and treatment sessions with physiotherapy participants, under supervision
All volunteers will be treated with care and respect. No hands-on techniques will be used without your full consent, and you are welcome to bring a support person with you. Timing will be arranged to suit your availability and comfort.

Cervical Dystonia – Practical Workshop

About Johanna Blom
Johanna Blom is a physiotherapist working within the Department of Neurology at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, Sweden. She is part of a specialist multidisciplinary team treating adults with dystonia and spasticity.
Johanna has extensive experience in cervical dystonia management and is an internationally respected educator in this field. She is the author of Muscle Imbalance: Cervical Dystonia and Spasticity, first published in 2018 and recently updated in English.
In collaboration with Dystonia Europe, she developed the Dystonia Physio Exercise Hub, a digital platform supporting individualised home programmes through a large exercise library now used internationally.
Her teaching style combines evidence-informed practice, strong clinical reasoning, and practical application.
Cervical dystonia is the most common adult-onset focal dystonia, yet many physiotherapists report limited formal training and uncertainty around conservative management.
This two-day, in-person practical workshop is designed to provide a structured and clinically applicable approach to the assessment and treatment of cervical dystonia. The focus is on clear clinical reasoning, movement analysis, and hands-on application you can take straight back into practice.
