When your tone sounds fluffy, have you ever look at the flute and wonder;
“Is something wrong with it?” 🤔
Actually the instrument is probably more reliable than the person playing it!
Your sound is shaped before the air even reaches the flute—by how you breathe, how your ribs and spine move, how freely your jaw responds, and how your whole body supports the breath.
A fluffy tone isn’t always a sign that you need to blow harder or practise more.
Sometimes it’s an invitation to pause and notice:
✨ Where am I holding my breath?
✨ Is my jaw working harder than necessary?
✨ Are my shoulders and arms free?
✨ How can I feel my feet supporting my sound?
Your flute is the instrument you hold.
But your body is your first instrument. 🎶
Save this next time you’re tempted to blame your flute—and follow for more ways to create a fuller sound with greater ease.
