I signed up for a 6 week challenge while I couldnāt even walk properly š. Because I needed something to focus on while in my moon boot. Something that would help me look for all the things I could still do- and there was plenty! So I showed up & moved- even in little ways.
The moon boot is off now & the challenge finished on Friday with a photo shoot. I rubbed up against whether to go or not, whether to share, or not. Because honestly, Iām not interested in making this about how my body looks. Which is hard because those ideas are so pervasive. I generally feel good about how my body looks. But I refuse to be a mouthpiece for the patriarchyāregurgitating the same tired message that as women our worth is tied to aesthetics. You can miss šš¼me šš¼with šš¼that.
What I am here for is strength, healing, grit and resilience. Movement that celebrates what my body can DO over what it looks like doing it. This is really what I want to pass on to my girls. Maybe this is my real glow-up- not passing on generational trauma ššŖš½
Huge mihi to for her support- listening to my 3-minute voice notes, holding space when I wanted to quit, and reminding me why I started. And to for helping me find so many alternative ways to keep moving with one leg š
. I literally couldnāt have done it without your help. Thank you to for making me feel safe and comfortable during the photo part.
So hereās my after. After choosing to move through injury with curiosity instead of despair. After showing up for myself with consistency and compassion.
Now bring on the Easter eggs šŖŗ
