Will you… sort your Will this September?

There's a version of September where you tick off one of the most put off tasks on your list, and it takes less time than you think.

Will you…Sort the important stuff this September?

September is national Wills month and a great time to think about this important topic. A Will plays a crucial role in reducing financial impacts on your loved ones and lets you have a say in who gets your stuff. A Will is not about planning for the worst. It is about making sure the people you love are not left guessing. Who gets what, who looks after the kids, what happens to your music, all of it written down, your own wishes, on your terms.

As a New Zealand msuic worker you receive a free online Will through Footprint, New Zealand's largest online Will provider.

Submit your Will with Footprint during September 2026 and you'll automatically go into the draw to win:
• One of Four (4) $150 Prezzy Cards, 1 x drawn each Friday throughout September 2026.
• One of Two (2) Grand Prize Canopy Camping Escape vouchers, each valued at NZ$1,000, redeemable at over 200 sites across New Zealand.*

Weekly winners stay in the running for the Grand Prize too.

Thank you, The Water Cone 💚
We’re incredibly grateful to The Water Cone Ltd for launching a new initiative to support the people behind Aotearoa’s music industry.
With the growth of live music and open-air events at westernspringsbowl , The Water Cone will make a contribution to MusicHelps for every Water Cone drinking water unit hired into the venue for live music events.
It’s a brilliant example of an event supplier turning their connection to the music industry into meaningful support for the people who make it all happen.
As Ilze Carseldine says: “Supporting MusicHelps means supporting the events community and the peers we’ve stood alongside over many years.”
Thank you, The Water Cone, for backing our music community and helping us look after the people behind the music. 💚

Music can be a powerful tool for healing. 💙
We're proud to support Kia Haanga Whakarereke in Moerewa, whose Project Bang-a-Gong uses the power of rhythm and percussion to help people affected by family violence process emotions, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves and others.
Through MusicHelps funding, these specialised therapeutic music workshops provide a safe, supportive space where participants can express themselves, regulate their emotions, and begin to heal.
If you'd like to help us support more life-changing music projects like this, please consider making a donation, link in bio.

A pilot programme in music therapy has shown measurable benefits for both teen parents and their tamariki in Wairarapa.

Trialled at Masterton’s Puawānanga teen parent unit in term 4 last year, the programme set out to see if starting a school day with big smiles, world music, waiata and dancing could improve learning for parents and their babies.

For the programme’s creator, Pip Algie, it was all about helping young parents to find a little joy amid the headwinds of parenthood, and to learn strategies around positive parenting through musical play.

Being the focus of so much creative attention had a notable effect on the young tamariki in the pilot, who were more settled and relaxed at childcare after one of Pip’s sessions.

Anonymised feedback from ākonga themselves has also been positive: “I like seeing all the kids happy. I feel peaceful,” or “I feel happy and part of a family.”

WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?
A clinical practice that uses music to support a person’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social wellbeing.
