🌿 Meet Dr Tin Htay – An Experienced GP Who Cares for Our Community

Dr Tin Htay has been practising medicine since graduating in 1981. Originally from Myanmar (Burma), he has made New Zealand his home for many years and also spent more than 10 years providing healthcare in Tonga.

He has cared for diverse communities across Māngere, Panmure, Onehunga and West Auckland. Dr Tin speaks Burmese and Tongan, helping patients feel comfortable and understood when discussing their health concerns.

Dr Tin is proud to be part of Medseek Clinics and currently provides care at Ōtāhuhu Health Centre. He is committed to delivering respectful, accessible and high-quality healthcare to individuals and families in our community.

🤒 Flu is spreading quickly across Aotearoa — know the signs and protect your whānau.

Influenza is more than a common cold. Symptoms often begin suddenly and may include:

🌡️ Fever or chills
😣 Muscle and body aches
😴 Extreme tiredness
😷 Dry cough or sore throat
🤧 Runny or blocked nose
🤕 Headache

Not everyone with influenza will develop a fever.

Help prevent the spread:

✅ Stay home when you are unwell
✅ Cover coughs and sneezes
✅ Wash or sanitise your hands regularly
✅ Wear a mask when visiting a healthcare facility
✅ Avoid close contact with babies, older people and anyone medically vulnerable
✅ Get your flu vaccination—it is still not too late

Seek medical advice early if symptoms are worsening or if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, living with a long-term condition, or caring for a young child or older person.

🚨 Call 111 immediately for severe breathing difficulty, severe chest pain, blue or grey lips, confusion, collapse, or difficulty waking.
