Yesterday our baby turned one and I felt like it was my birthday too! 🥳
My first birthday of being a mum. What a vital celebration! Mums and dads everywhere NEED to celebrate that first, hard year.
And to think it almost didn’t happen due to sheer exhaustion.
About a month ago when I started thinking about the party, I just felt heavy, thinking I had to do it all myself. Cause that’s what mums do, right?
Well, I though if this party is going to happen, it’s going to have to be a team effort. This mum is going on strike 🫠
So thats how we did it. Mum made the cake, a friend lent us her decorations, William went to Costco, aunty made arepas, and I built another baby fence (getting pretty good at it).
And you know what? It rained and poured but no one cared cause we had some awesome folks around eating yum kai and the vibrations were high.
I am so grateful for the power of community to make celebrations and rituals like this one happen 🙏🙏🙏🙏
And I am so proud and relieved to have survived the first year! Not quite unscathed but very much full of joy ❤️
To all the parents out there, I see you and ka pai.
