This story stopped us in our tracks. 🥰
When Narly noticed Finlay and his support buddy Megan out in the rain in Devonport, he didn't just walk on, he got thinking.
The result?
A custom umbrella holder engineered to fit Finlay's powerchair, gifted by the legends at Blunt Umbrellas.
This is what community looks like. People noticing, caring, and actually doing something about it.
We love seeing Kiwis show up for each other. 🌧️☂️
Including Finlay BLUNT Umbrellas
Finlay met a new friend in the Devonport community a couple of weeks ago. His name was Narly.
It was one of those wet Auckland days, and Narly noticed Finlay and Megan (his support buddy) out in the rain. He came over and kindly offered an umbrella. Megan explained that while it was such a thoughtful gesture, it’s not that simple; she can’t hold an umbrella, keep Finlay dry, and safely control his powerchair all at the same time.
But Narly didn’t just walk away. He got thinking… surely there had to be a better way.
As it turns out, Narly is a lawyer and happens to work with Blunt Umbrellas. So he reached out. From there, local Glenfield legend Toby from Blunt stepped in and engineered a custom holder that attaches directly to Finlay’s powerchair. Not only that, they gifted him a Blunt umbrella, the holder, and a cover to go with it.
Today, they both came around to fit it onto Finlay’s chair.
I asked them to stop for a photo, because this is exactly the kind of story worth sharing. It’s about community. It’s about people noticing, caring, and then actually doing something about it.
Thank you for looking out for my Finlay, Narly, and Toby. You’ve made a real difference.
Blunt, we love your umbrellas.
