There are so many tāonga in Te Wao nui ā Tiriwa and why I love and am super grateful for living, working and bringing my boy up here. We need to support and uphold the mana of all Mana Whenua no matter where we live, but especially if we are living and thriving outside our own rōhe and for my Westie friends and whānau this is our opportunity to do the same here in our own backyard.
We need to uphold the mana by showing our support with this Deed of Acknowledgement for Te Kawerau ā Maki and my TKM friends that I love very much and as Josie Hatch Wall said below:
‘This does NOT mean there will be no public consultation, it does NOT mean community won’t be involved and it does NOT mean that the iwi want to close the forest! (the narrative coming from some community groups and friends of Ken Turner)
What it
does mean is:
The act provides for, and Te Kawerau ā Maki wish to contribute to:
a) Planning, monitoring and reporting
b) Improving the Natural environment
c) Maintenance and land management
d) Cultural heritage of the area.
How could we not love that!!!
